Hi everyone, I`m looking for some advice regarding my set up. At the moment I play clubs etc in a Rock n Roll duo using a Gretsch White Falcon into a Pod XT Live plugged directly into my Mackie PA system. I am currently putting together a set of Shads numbers for some solo work having recently bought myself a strat and getting really into The Shadows again. I have installed some Hank tones into my pod from other users on the Line6 website but I am wondering if I should invest in a Yamaha Magicstomp with EFTP ( if I can find one) and just use the pod for amp simulation as this seems to be the way most people are going who use pods for live work etc. The pod sounds I have sound pretty good to me so I`m wondering what the Magicstomp would bring to the table as it were. Ideally I would like to go through an amp but as a solo performer I need to limit the amount of gear I carry so the pod is ideal in that respect. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi,
All I could advise is that any of the units, Zoom RFX, Quadraverb range, MagicStomp ETC, with Charlie's EFTP patches installed WILL give you a better Shadows sound than you'll ever hope to get from a Pod or any other amp simulator for that matter.
I daren't even guess how many hundreds of hours Charlie has invested in the EFTP patches, but if you're looking for anything near a Shadows sound, that's the way to go.
Cheers Barry

Hi Mark, The tone is important and you seem to have sorted that. In addition what the Magicstomp with Charlie's patches gives you is the accurate echoes. Without accurate echoes you can't really reproduce Shadows numbers (like Apache for example) as the echo is part of the tune.
