Hi There I will be receiving some vintage Vox ferro-sonic pickups soon.. Can anyone explain the difference between that and other pickups? It seems that there is no in depth info on that material that VOX used in the past. Thanks! Sheendigs

Hi Sheendigs, I have seen some speakers referred to as having ferric magnets. Maybe some research in that area would produce some results? Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie Nothing much on the feric matter..at the time that Vox made those initial pickups..I had ordered a pickup from Framus and it contained a bar magnet with a squashed coil.. I am waiting to see what this Vox pickup has inside it..as soon as it arrives I will try to open it and peek inside. Perhaps they used a similar bar magnet...I remember playing on a VOX stroller guitar (one pickup)..and it had tremendous output!! Hi There I received the pickup today. There was only a magnet and an encapsulated bobbin in a sort of resin.. I have not tried it yet.. Here it how it looks. Sheendigs
