I've used Elixir 11's nanoweb strings for years and love the tone and durability of tone. But I cant seem to find a straight answer on the Net as to how different the new Polywebs SOUND compared to them. Anyone done a change over to Polyweb and can offer info? Cheers ian

Hey Ian - I also use Nanowebs - and have recently switched to the new Optiweb coating. This is even thinner than Nanoweb - no real discernible difference in sound to me to be honest (so far) - Elixir say they are supposed to be a little brighter - but to me they are a little quicker to play, more like a traditional uncoated string but with better life.
Polywebs go the other way - it is a little thicker than Nanoweb - and so the strings sound like they have been played in for a while, not so bright. The thicker coating also makes them a little 'smoother' to play. I tried only one pack - and went back to Nano.
Don't know if it helps... just my experience.
Best always,
Tony

Hi Tony It certainly does help. I'm on the verge of a string change on the Brason and was reading up on them but couldnt seem to pin down any A-B reviews or tests. I'm not a speed merchant and not even a quick player (lol) so the Optiweb wouldnt be worth it, if the tone remains more or less the same. Polywebs seem pointless for my needs as I already have strings that now sound like they've been played a bit :. Nano's again it is for me, mate. Thanks for the informative input - much appreciated Ian

Hi, The Polywebs are much like the Nano for feel less finger noise easy for slides etc. They have a warmer tone like Jazz , Blues etc. or older Shadows sound nice strings. Les.
