Hi!
Could someone tell me, with which guitar was recorded Zambesi, Foot tapper, and Walkin'? Strat or Burns?
Thanks for Answers!

Foot tapper, 1963 Strat, 99% sure Zambezi was Burns guitar as was Walkin, these numbers are 1964 Burns period, you can tell the tone is different from the Strat but still AC30. If I can be proved wrong I will hold my hands up but I’m confident ha ha😆👍 Peter

1964 featured the transition from Strat to Burns, via the white Strats. Also Hank experimented with different pickup combinations and with the tone controls on the AC30. However, my guess is FootTapper - Red Strat, Walkin' - white Strat, Zambezi - Burns (largely because of the slight trem "warble" which the Burns produces).

I saw Hank with a black Strat, it was a 70's model, large head stock, Maple neck, but its been suggested it was a respray over another colour, To my ears it was one of the best Strat sounds Hank had but that's just a personal preference. Roger, until the Burns got stolen and then Jennings gave them Fiesta red strats. but with Rose Wood fret boards, I believe Hank played this model the longest in the earlier days

I think the black Strat was used on Riders in the Sky and at some time had a Gibson (?) humbucker at the bridge. I think you're right about the repaint.

Here's a question (off topic I know) that many people have asked, Did Hank ever use the Fender Twin house amp at Abbey Road studios on some of his recordings, He is reputed to and he also told Dick Denny he liked it which prompted Dick to make the AC 30, some people can tell if a track was on a Fender amp, I can't, but it doesn't mean he didn't use it.
