Interesting indeed. On holiday, I played with the Northumberland Shadows lads. One guy there played a Tele with Strat pickups. Guess what - it sounded just like a regular Strat. Ian

Good read that George. I don't need to choose, I've got both - and I love them both!

I have 2 strats and a Les Paul. No Tele. I had one for 10 years but it wasn't mine and it went back out of the blue.
I'd like a regular telecaster but with hot pickups.

I'm surprised the tele with with strat pickups sounds like a Strat. The fixed bridge especially with through body stringing makes a difference to the sound. But ho hum.

Ian I guess it was like hard tail stratocaster sound. They sound great so the telecaster with 3 strat pups would too I'm sure. George

I have a Fender Baja Player Telecaster and it has great sounds of it's own, but without modification it sounds different to a Strat yet fairly close on bridge and Neck PU's . The in between pos is reasonable for strat middle PU sound. I would not dream of trying to make it sound exactly like a strat though it has a character of it's own. It has an addition 4th position of putting neck and bridge in series which adds oomph to it as well as 2 out of phase sounds. All in all a great guitar. The telecaster is wired different to a strat and that is partly why it sounds different but it is similar for sure. I have 4 strats anyway .
