I used to use a cheap Strat fitted with a roland midi pickup, the only problem was bends as they wouldn't be recorded as such and had to be edited in later.

Phil The Fishman Triple Play software has settings for bends that you can set to do a normal smooth bend or to jump up half a step if you go past a certain point or I think you can set the parameters for other amounts. I have yet to find how to set it's default to smooth as I think that it always goes back to half a step when you change instruments
