To all customers past and present, I have cancelled my landline phone and internet services from my current provider as from the 21st August 2020. From that date I will no longer have a landline phone number and 90 days after that (should be around the 19th November) my email address will no longer work. I will then have only a mobile phone and a mobile internet connection. However, I need a quieter life free from time wasters (I am not talking about any genuine customers) as well as cold callers so a PM (private message) via this site will be the best way to contact me after the above dates. I will check for new messages frequently as I always have done, which is often more than once a day. I will still be able to offer some level of support for EFTP until the end of 2021 and I intend to set up various short lived email accounts or upload to a hosting site as necessary in order to send requested files to existing customers if and when required. Support for current products such as the Hall & Collins Signature Echo will be effectively unchanged as there is a board on this site for that purpose, and direct support from the manufacturer is unaffected anyway. Looking forward to continuing a fair level of support for those that genuinely qualify for it. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, I can perfectly understand your decision, there is far too much unwanted background noise these days. Thank you for continuing to offer support for those who need it and I'm sure most information requried will already be here anyway. Good to know the Hall and Collins Signature Echo support will be unaffected. I hope you get the peace and quite you are looking for. Thank you for all the help you have given in the past and of course for this site and community on it. Good luck, take care. Regards, Tim.

I use caller display to see who is calling me before I answer, if I do not recognise the number it goes to ansaphone and I listen see if they speak, often they put down. Also block numbers. Caller display is free with my TalkTalk account

Yes, my wife and I have developed a healthy disregard for all numbers we do not recognise. Having the phone ring 7 times before ‘Call Minder’ intervenes is a distraction, but a small price to pay for keeping all the nonsense at bay. Those genuine callers will likely leave a message that can be vetted at our convenience. In reality we cannot say we are overwhelmed by cold/nuisance callers. Perhaps their automated systems strike you off their lists after a certain number of denials...who knows? Whatever the solution adopted, it’s important you retain control of such uninvited and unwelcome events in our lives. Same with the Internet and email, maintain a high level of suspicion at all times.

Dear Charlie, I’m sorry that you have obviously had such a trying experience with your telephone and internet people. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your kindly assistance over the years, and you have always answered my questions promptly and in great detail. You’ve never made me feel stupid, even though my questions have sometimes been naive. Thank you so much. Your help has been invaluable over the years. In short, you are a true gentleman, and I’m glad you’ll still be popping up on this site. Please take care. Stay safe. Keep well. God bless you. All the best, Milko

Hi Milko, Thank you. I will still be here as often as I have always been. By having all communications here I can attend to enquiries and help those who ask wherever I am without having to check emails as well. I have a new mobile phone with unlimited calls texts and data and am getting to learn it all quite well. Regards, Charlie
