I think Bruce’s contribution to the Shads overall sound is often underestimated. Dave

I think Bruce’s contribution to the Shads overall sound is often underestimated. Dave I have never found Hank Marvin's solo recordings as good as the Shadows' ones, because Bruce's contribution is missing... Didier

Often wondered why he didn't do a solo album.

I'm pretty sure he didn't play on 'Move It', nor did Hank Marvin.
As for the solo career, he was probably too busy producing other people.

Bruce was very much the band leader. His rhythm guitar work was always outstanding and he had the knack of finding chords and voicings that simply sounded right and enhanced the melody. He's often said he didn't know much about chords etc but that understates his musicality. Also a terrific composer and songwriter and let's not forget his Shadowmania shows and the joy they brought to so many of us. A great man who still can find the time to call in to his local Shads club now and then!
