I bought this guitar in Leningrad, USSR in 1985-86 from Latvian guitar player of Laima Vaikule's band During this deal the owner told me that this is guitar from Shadows' musician. Can anybody help me to find the truth about this guitar? This is 1965 sunburst Stratocaster. # L48336 This is very memorable one, because of this piece of varnish that was chipped off the body of the guitar many years ago. I'm sure that done before this Latvian Guy bought it because he is very cautious Latvian man. I couldn't add pics, so this link to the pictures Thanks

Interesting. Certainly looks 'right' for the year. AFAICR Hank bought a sunburst Strat when working with John Farrar and it eventually got sprayed hlack. But that would be way after 1964 and of course nowadays is therefore no longer sunburst.

The Shadows started to officially use Burns guitars in 1964 because they were having tuning problems with Fender guitars. So while they could have used anything in the studio, if they were having tuning problems then it is unlikely they would want the potential problems when the solution had already been found. It is possible that the guitar was owned by one of any number of guitar players who played Shadows music. Unless there is any documentation to prove any connection, then I think it is better to just enjoy the guitar for what it is. Regards, Charlie
