Hello everyone, Well "hopefully" my last update on this, the splints, cast, thingy has been off for a few weeks now the wrist has healed, however i am finding it hard to twist the wrist around a guitar neck so more excercises needed, and now with very soft fingertips to add to the problem, typing is ok now with two hands but holding the wrist out straight to use the keyboard can be tiring and takes time to type anything other than a sentance or two. I have a two or three sound files made before the break, plus some back catalogue i may decide to post to give me some more time to see how or how not my playing will progress before trying anything new to post after the break, also being shut in and couldn't drive (manual transmission),hasn't done my mental health much good and i have seemed to have lost my mojo, get up and go has got up and left so that's another hurdle to jump.
Anyway .....enough waffle from me, just to say thank you to all my friends for their support, and anything i post until further notice will be "pre break"
my best wishes to all
Kay x

Nice to hear from you Kay, I did wonder where you were. I know what you mean about your mental health, I was fairly sanguine about the lockdown, only to realise later that it's taken away a lot of my zing. As of next week I can retrain in living a normal life and getting back to being myself. Can you get physiotherapy for your wrist? I don't believe it's the cure all that some think it is, but I think it may well help in your case.
My cure for soft fingers is to play something with a lot of bends on my acoustic. It gets all the pain out of the way quicker.
Take good care of yourself,
Len x

Hello Kay, just to give you a bit of positivity while you are recuperating, I’m a member of a guitar club called “The Tyneside Shadows guitar club” and among the members is a lovely lady called Margaret (her husband Jim is also a member, nice guy also) a while ago, I don’t know the exact circumstances, Margaret had an accident and also broke her wrist, she had a scaffold arrangement fitted around her wrist for a while but the outcome was, as far as I am aware, she is playing guitar as good as before (actually better than me). So as much as it is a nuisance for you at this time, I’m sure you will be back to playing in no time and I suppose the actual physicality of playing the guitar is in itself a physio workout, anyhow, hope you are soon feeling better and healing well. Trev.

Hi Derek, Thanks so much for asking about me,and yes the wrist is getting more supple to twist it round the guitar neck which is good, however couple of setbacks have appeared
1 soft sore finger tips......ongoing repair work to that.
2 I slipped in the shower a few days back and put my right hand out to save the left one getting re broken ,and bent the right one badly, to wit, one very badly sprained right wrist so although the left can get around the guitar neck with a bit of trouble, i cant now hold a pick in my right, so back to the drawing board for a couple more weeks still as Mr Clarkson says...........could be worse......
Thanks again Derek for taking the time to call me
best wishes

Hi Kay,
So sorry to hear about your wrist accident and then the set-back following it. Perhaps getting back to the guitar slowly and gently is the answer, but of course you will know best. Meanwhile, try to settle for the offerings that the other members happily bring you.
Take care now.
Roger
