Last night after a kind invite from Ronb64 (one of the site members & active sound file poster) I went along to a local club where Ron & his friend Dave hire the concert room on a wed night to rehearse & play music (mostly, but not all Shads). They have a full set of gear including 2 ac30's, pa, mics backing tracks etc... set up. Literally 5 minutes after walking in I was stuck up on the stage with my guitar with Dave playing rhythm & Ron working the bt's monitors etc.. It is 42 years since I had stood on a stage playing live music, and it felt really good (apart from the nerves !) ;D The concert with Cliff & the Shads started it off again & now thanks to the kindness & encouragement of Ron & Dave I have finally ventured out of the "bedroom" Since I came back to guitars a little while ago I've just played around at home & collected, swapped & tried all the modern "toys" having more fun rediscovering & working with valve amps than actually playing the guitar. So it's time to practice properly now (including playing standing up!) & hopefully the wed night sessions will develop into a regular event. The moral of this little tale (if there is one !) is that it's never to late to get out & play somewhere, so.... if you get the chance TAKE IT. I'm bugged with arthritis & in my 60's so if I can ... anybody can.
Thanks Ron & Dave (& Charlie for the site that made it possible)
Dick.
