Hi All, Greetings from New Zealand, I know it’s been a while. I thought I would share an experience from the 80’s and ask a question. The Shadows came to Auckland during that time. My wife and I turned up late in the afternoon just as the Shadows were completing their soundcheck. Suddenly the venue was empty and I spied Hank’s amp which was a Fender Twin Reverb ( Silverface ) exactly like my own. Deciding to chance my arm, I climbed on to the empty stage to eyeball the EQ Settings of the amp when suddenly a big roadie appeared and told me to ( —-//—- Off ) Unfortunately I never did get the settings. The show was just marvellous and sound was just the same as all the other amps Hank uses. I know his main amps have been Vox, but he has used Mesa Boogie, that head and cabinet system I have seen, as well as others. Yes, much of the sound is in the hands, but the amps must contribute. The question therefore : What EQ Settings would Hank use on a Twin Reverb to equate the sound of a Vox? I have tried all manner of settings on mine, I’m sure there is the magic setting somewhere. Cheers and Thanks - Wrangler.

The speakers vary a lot in Twin Reverb amps. He might have used the normal channel, which is a little less toppy than the reverb channel. Treble was probably set farly low, bright switch probaly off, mids quite high and bass probably around 4. Regards, Charlie

Thanks Charlie, Yes, I have been trying eq settings similar to what you suggest. If I remember that concert, the amps used were NZ, hired for the tour. Funnily, I seem to remember seeing Hank’s amp and eq from a distance but did not register. Cheers - Trevor
