Alesis Q2, is it worth?

Hey everyone,

First, Thank you very much for the Approvement. :-)
I'm new here and I'm playing some Instrumental Songs since one year. Love to play the Shadows and all the other stuff.

Now I'm playing with a Zoom G3, loaded with Shadows Echoes. Not the Full Monty Patches, there a any other Patches from the Shadows. Bought it from the well known auction site.
Anybody knows what kind of patches this can be? Are EFTP Patches for the G3 available?
I only use the Delays from the G3. The Reverb comes from a Surfy Bear through an Bugera Amp. I think the sound's great. BUT!

I have the chance to get a Alesis Q2 with a "Mantis+VSE" Eprom.
Is this Eprom made by real EFTP Echoes from Charlie?
Is it worth 400 Euros and can it maybe replace the surfy bear too?
Or is it better to get a naked Q2 and buy the Eprom from the well known auction site. Can I replace them by myself?
Is it a upgrade to the Zoom G3?

Hi Tom,
Various people wrote echo patches for the G3. I wasn't involved ith supplying any of these.
Please avoid the Mantis VSE unit or any EEPROM. They are not authorised by me.
I designed with John Collins the Hall & Collins Signature Echo. These are no longer in production but sound better (and endorsed as such by many) for Hank and Shadows echoes than any of the third party effects units that I originally programmed. They do come up occasionally for sale.
Also, keep an eye out here for news of a possible new unit.

I thought the Alesis Q2 is with real EFTP Echoes from you. Phil McGarrick plays it too, he subscribe it at his videos.

Can i get somewhere a Hall & Collins Echo Unit? or any other idea how can i play with this EFTP Echoes?

Hi Tom,
If anyone is using a programmed unit with patches I designed and not paid for to me except with prior permission, then I don't authorise such units. There have been several people who have swindled me over the years. The result is they make money while I get nothing.
Keep an eye on this site for Hall & Collins units for sale. They do appear occasionally. The original selling price was £599 GBP, including VAT AT 20%.

It means, you can authorise any unit with the serial No. ?
If you give you your E-Mail, I will send you a serial to check.
I want a unit with real Eftp's, all ohter stuff and third party patches I played enough already.

I don't need a serial number for any unit that has an non factory EEPROM. Some time ago I extended this to any unit found on the auction site. I would spebnd about half an hour looking for a serial number that is not in my records, therefore wasting time for no profit that I never made in the first place. It automatically will not be authorised by me and would never have been programmed with my permission.
Members here place new adverts in the General section. The old adverts section will be gone soon. Many items are on that auction site for a reason.

We are hoping to produce a simplified version of the Hall & Collins Signature Echo to sell at a lower price. I have already designed the new circuit. The echo sounds will be exactly the same as the original unit. Controls will be somewhat simplified. The factory is alway very busy so it takes time to get things done.

Great news, I have just bought a Hall & Collins S/H in excellent condition and it sounds superb, so with the same sounds, one of them will be great backup for gigging as the sounds are the same.
