Hello There Thanks for the info...for those what the 'X' after the Vox amplifier logo means..here it is: The 'X' designation in after the model name means that power is distributed to Celestion Alnico Blue speakers, which adds considerably to the price. Sheendigs

You are absolutely right Sheendigs . It’s better to buy the version with the Greenback speakers and buy yourself the Alnico Blue speakers UK made and install them yourself . Saves you a lot of money ! And you can sell the new Greenbacks ….. Win Win situation . Now for the EF 86 channel , a pity indeed . As Vox claims they want to copy as much as possible the original ? …… They are for sale this summer . Think a lot of money …….

No stand by switch ? Maybe not needed with a GZ34 rectifier , or better: use not with GZ34 rectifier ? Charlie ? 😉

Yes an EF86 add on unit was done by Roger Allcock (RIP) and not sure but maybe someone else did. Don't believe any are currently available either.

As regards building new handwired VOX amps I love the sentiment, and keeping the love for these truely "iconic" amps going. I do have a Heritage hand wired and a JMI VOX so really no need to buy one of these new amps, but I am interested. I went on the NAMM 2024 site to have a look and from what I gather about what they were saying it seems like they a took their parameters for the new builds from a PRIME EXAMPLE of a JMI VINTAGE AMP and "voiced" their amps on that example with a choice of Greenbacks or Celestian Blues. link. NAMM LINK Steph.
