Hi all, I recently acquired an EQ2 pedal and been doing some experiments in my studio and have made a preset on the Pedal that covers a LOT of the early Shadows sound. I have not posted a soundfile for a LONG time and stress that this soundfile is purely experimental. As I normally say, I am well aware of ALL the faults in this file with noise, mispicks etc but over the last 3 years I have been so obsessed with getting "that sound" I always neglect practising this CAN and WILL be corrected now I think I am CLOSE to the sound i'm looking for?. This sound was obtained on a Fender Frontman 15R with a Shure SM57 I have got my Mercury Output transformer but as yet not put into my AC 15 Heritage which is still on my bench in the workshop with my JMI AC30/6 so this soundfile is an experiment using the EQ2 pedal. pixeldrain.com/u/G3Yq4BKZSteph.

Hi Steph, It's a very good sound, but maybe a little too much compression? I would be interested to see your EQ2 settings compared to those which Bernardj has very kindly furnished us with, and did you use 1 input and 2 outputs on the EQ2?
Kind regards,
Chris

Chris, thanks for your comments. Yes I did add a bit too much compression when the file on it's own without any compression etc sounded fine. I think the main point I was trying to get across is that this programmable EQ pedal is a perfect tool to compliment a decent amp and echo for example a JMI VOX or AC15 Heritage. The set-up for the soundfile I posted was Standard American Stat that was originally fitted with Fender Custom Shop Fat 50's which I removed and fitted a set of genuine Fender Custom Shop CS54's. So the output from my Strat goes straight into Input 1 on EQ2 Pedal and from Output 1 into my TVS3, output from the TVS3 went into my little 15 watt Fender Frontman and that is Mic'd up with an SM57 and fed into the High Impedence Mic socket of a Mackie Pro FX10 all recorded and mixed in Reaper. What you have to take into consideration is the fact that the Fender Frontman only has a "voiced" 8" speaker so it's at a disavantage straight away and is NOT going to sound like a VOX 12" Celestian. When I do get round to fitting my Mercury Magnetics OUTPUT TRANSFORMER to my AC15 Heritage which is fitted with an original 12" Celestian Blue ( not the horrible thin sounding Chinese Blue ) it will sound amazing with that EQ2 pedal. I did watch Bernards video on YouTube but because it's not in English it's hard to understand exactly what he is doing. I will post some LINKS to some short soundbites of Shads stuff without any added compression etc. Meanwhile HERE is a short soundbite of THEME FOR YOUNF LOVERS, bearing in mind the characteristics of the little Fender Frontman.....not exactly a VOX. Same set-up as ABOVE. pixeldrain.com/u/LYZvpbXASteph.

hi Steph I think that in the order of your sound system and if I have read correctly what you have written, you must first plug your strat into the TVs then the output of the TVs into the input of the Eq2, then and finally the output of the eq2 to the vox (soon the Heritage with the new transformer) The same in 1960... normally on my videos you should be able to activate the translation bernard from France with google
