Hi Grip, Well played. As for the sound, the trebles seem to be fairy well controlled, maybe you could afford to increase the bass now, with the Cutting Edge being used. Since the Cutting Edge removes a lot of bass, increasing the bass will add more low mids and give body to the sound and should also warm up the high notes a bit too. Regards, Charlie

Hi Grip, Great sound (as in all your posts). If I had to be over critical I would say the sound needs a little more fullness. The treble is very clear perhaps a tad over bright and I personally think a bit more bass would help fill the sound out. Bear in mind I am not an expert. Once again the overall sound was crystal clear, great sounding echo for the palm muted sections. In the end a lot depends on personal taste.
Regards.

Hi Charlie & Robert,
Thank you both for your very kind comments and advise. I have done another take with 25% bass added at the Amplifier, I like what its a done to the mids, but not so sure about the treble.
Kind regards,
grip

Hi Grip again, I have tried to compare both tracks one after the other and back again. I prefer the second take with more bass as the melody has more depth. I think the treble still sounds fine, very clear and the muted parts come through well. When playing (no where near your standard) I always think I need more treble, when less sometimes give a more rounded sound.
Keep up the good work I am enjoying the huge selection of sounds that appear in these posts.
All the best,
Robert

Hi grip, I think the second take sounds better overall, but the mids do seem to have suffered a little. Maybe reducing treble and bass a little (to give more mids), and perhaps just a touch more mids, as long as doing that doesn't add too much treble? Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Thanks for your continued patience . I have moved onto something else now and changed all my settings, I will revisit this over the next few days. The change in sound for the Bridge/middle combination is wonderful with this cutting edge, I'm sifting thro' what I have to fit the tones I am getting now (it makes a change from trying to find the tone for the tune). Kind regards, grip

Hi grip, That's the thing with the Cutting Edge and other devices that do similar things, you have to rethink other settings to find new tones that you didn't have before. Regards, Charlie

The sounds as usual on your posts are fine. To be slightly critical and I hope you dont mind, but I think you are too worried about your overall sound and tone , I think that many people who are sending in posts are too concerned about getting that sound and not concerned enough with the actual playing and timing. The listenability and the likeability of a guitar instrumental song go far beyond the tone, if Hanks playing and timing were not perfect then I dont think we would still be listening and talking about him now.

Hi Russ,
Thanks for your kind comments. Of course I don't mind critiscism, I welcome it ;D. You have a valid point, but to most on here, the exact sound is the "Holy Grail" and the chase for "that sound" is all part of the fun.
The biggest stride forward for me was learning of, and buying Charlies EFTP patches, the rest is just small steps in an effort to get as close as possible, and we have the best pair of ears (Charlies) helping us toward that end.
Kind regards,

I think what I was trying to say was that "that sound" has a lot to do with the way a tune is played just as much as the effects and electronics.

Hi Russ,
I agree to an extent, but timing has nothing to do with those lovely crusty mids and piercing but somehow smooth highs that Hank is able to achieve. I know I will never reach the dizzy heights of that sound, because one factor will always be how much money I can afford to chase it, and on a pension, that doesn't equate to very much.
This would have made a good topic in the general forum, it would be nice to hear other peoples points of view on this one.
Kind regards,
grip
