Hi Brian
Very well played. I agree with Lou about you not being far off the mark with the sound and tone. The timing might be one area you could work on as you seemed a little off the beat on occasions.
Overall, you did really well with a Shadows favourite, especially as it is only your second post. I would like to do half as well with my first couple.
Regards Len

Hi Brian, when you put a Shadows cover on here, it has to be perfect. As Len says, the timing is out at a 00.41, 01.14 and 02.01. Listen to the original again. Apart from that you play it well with a tone near to the original.

Had another listen - and comments re timings are right, many thanks. But have the covers we post got to be perfect? If they were, there would be no point in putting them on. They are my best attempt so far. I've appreciated the advice given and always strive to improve but I don't want to feel frightened to post something unless its perfect!

Hi Brian,I completely agree with what you are saying. No one should be afraid to post a sound file in fear of criticism. Hi len/Jim, Does it really matter wether you play a note as a quaver or semi quaver. If you listen to the original intro of Dance on, then listen to the way Hank plays it now. Its completely different. Infact every time he plays dance on the intro seems to be different. lets not get to caught up in perfection. Regards Tony

Hi Brian I enjoyed it very much a really nice tone on the guitar and the right amount of echo its a number I've never played but a number that I intend to learn some time in the near future.

Hi Brian,
Generally well played with a nice sound. I agree with most of what has been said above with regard to your timing.
I don't necessarily agree that Shadows covers have to be perfect to be posted here, most of us will put our own spin on a number of Shadows tunes. The best way of finding out where you need to improve is to get the opinions of others.
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Brian, I, and I think most others who respond to sound files, would hope that any constructive criticism is received in the spirit in which it was intended. The player often does not notice things that other listeners might. My comment for this tune is that your guitar seems to be slightly out of tune at times. Either it is your intonation that is out a little, or the tremolo arm is being biased a little too much in one direction. I did not notice too much of a problem with timing, but that might be because I picked up on the tuning instead. It is hoped that this is not received as a criticism for the performance of this tune alone but rather as a means to improve others too, in case it might happen again if nothing were said. Many members' files have improved by a high degree because of comments made, which is one of the the main reasons for posting sound files. They do not have to be perfect in every way, some might hear a different sound to the original as being less than perfect, but I have heard some files posted here that sound better than the originals to my ears. The posting of a file is not final by any means, if there is room for improvement and the players wishes to do that, then updated versions can be posted. That is where I receive a lot of pleasure from listening to members' sound files, hearing the final results after taking on board valid comments. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie Thanks for your comments. Certainly no offence to any comments made and all suggestions appreciated. It was just being new to site and then reading the comment 'Postings have to be perfect' I thought, 'Whoops.' Really enjoying site and thanks to you personally. I will be posting again in not too distance future.
Regards
Brian
