look on the well known auction site 1960s echo unit,
just thought ide post this to let you guys know, its got 6 days to run
tomvintage 60s MEAZZI ECHOMATIC multi-head tape echo *rare
This is an original mid- sixties MEAZZI ECHOMATIC "all transistor" tape echo unit. Back in the days it was the Rolls-Royce of echo units and is still inevitable to recreate the shimmering sounds of Hank Marvin, The Ventures, Duane Eddy, Scotty Moore, Cliff Gallup, Carl Perkins etc. I've played through many modern digital delay and echo effects, but none of them come close to the vibe of a multi- head tape echo.
About this particular unit, it came with a 1964 Tremolux amp I bought last year from the original first owner's widow. She did not remember the exact year of purchase, but said it must have been mid sixties. There is a serial number in de back door of the unit (see picture), but I doubt anyone can date it by SN. As far as I can tell, everything except the mains cord is original. The box is made of 1mm thick steel and spray-painted in blueish- grey enamel. It's very sturdy and reminds me of a WWII ammunition box. There are plenty of surficial rustspots, scratches and normal signs of use but no obvious damage. It's in excellent shape for a 45 year old object.
This is the, for those days, revolutionary "all transistor" version. The pre-amp section features germanium transistors. If you push high output pickups (P-90's) through it, you get a perfect fat "Scotty Moore" rockabilly sound, when using a Strat or turning down the volume on those P-90's, you'll hear honey dripping "Shadows" tones. All controls, effect buttons, replay- recording- and erase heads, work fine. I've cleaned the heads, put on a new tape and tested it for a couple of hours to ensure everything works
