Hi All, I have always played Midnight using the bridge pickup with a rather harsh sound to it (perhaps it's supposed to sound like that). I thought I'd give it a go using the bridge and middle pickup together, and with another echo patch. What do you think.... Any comments at all please.. good, bad, constructive etc. www.4shared.com/file/222702144/fa660ddb/Midnight.htmlKind regards Roger

Hi Roger, Very nice sound and well played. I could add that the different sound almost requires the tune to be played a little differently (although I have no ideas on how it should change). Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Many thanks for your valued reply. I think you could be right. Maybe it lends itself to a little improvisation in places. Just a thought....
Kind regards Roger

Hi Roger, that was well played mate. It sounded nice but maybe a little thin.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your comments.
Yes, I agree. I couldn't put my finger on it, but to me it it sounds a bit like the band or the orchestra's missing. Or maybe it needs some reverb to give it some presence.
I think I'll stick with the original sound....
Kind regards Roger

Hi Jim
I think it sounds a little thin too though the playing is OK. The echo doesn't sound quite right either. I'm not sure about it needing improvisation. I think it needs a different sound but it's difficult to pin down exactly what that should be. Perhaps you could persevere with it for a while with trying different sounds. Listen to the results. If you still can't make up your mind, then perhaps give it a break for a while, then return to it. It's sometimes amazing how a little time out seems to clear the wool out of our listening ears. This is something experienced mixing people do when they can't quite make up their minds about the right sound for a track (at least some of those I have heard advice from).
This is my suggestion. I hope it helps and all the best with it if you intend re-posting it.
Regards Len

Hi Roger, I think the guitar tone is more suitable on the new version. It could do with some reverb added to it, or try this guitar tone with the other echo patch again which has a more spacey sound. Regards, Charlie

Thanks Charlie,
I'll give it a go with another patch and see how it sounds. I'll post the result.

Hi Roger, I think it sounds fine. Nothing further needed. In fact I think it sounds better than the original. Regards, Charlie

Hi Jim,
Thanks, and thanks for listening.
Was it the second one, or the last one (Midnight3) that you preferred?
Kind regards Roger
