Even with Charlie's fantastic echo's I can't seem to get the tone I am looking for. I currently use a Q2, G7.1ut, Tonelab LE, Acetone amp and my Jap HM Sig strat or straight into Cubase. I have also tried playing around with EQ but lack the skill to use it properly.
I have been looking at Guitar Rig 4 or Amplitube as they seem to have so many setting to adjust the tone, trouble is they are not cheap. Just wondering if anybody uses this kind of software when recording and can offer some advice.
Glen

Hi Glen
I have Guitar Rig 3 and I have used Amplitube.
To be honest,I find Amplitube geared more towards the distorted heavily overdriven side of things, whereas Guitar Rig seems to be more flexible.
Not knowing what you feel is wrong with the sound you are getting makes it difficult to give an opinion,I would have thought with the gear you have it would give a reasonable Shads sound but,if it's the early Shads sound you are after, that's a different matter.
Have a look on Native Instruments website and see if there is a demo of Guitar Rig,I know IK Multimedia do a demo of Amplitube,so it might be worth trying that.
Either way,you have nothing to lose.
Let us know how you get on, and come back if there are any problems.

Hi Alan I have downloaded the Guitar Rid 4 demo its actually quite good, your not limited to a set number of days but it appears forever, up to 30 mins at a time, although some saves are disabled. Can you tell me what settings and components you use ? Tom Thats what I call advice when you even find one on the well known auction site for me - nice one Glen

Hi Glen,
May I suggest to try Nomad Factory's "Rock Amp Legends"? The first amp "Classic Lead 4x12 A" provides you with an excellent VOX AC-30 sound. The plug-in is fairly cheap ($ 89) and a demo version is also available.
Regards,
Joachim

Hi Glen
I am just about to start using this again today,I mainly use the AC30 emulation, but the Fender Amps set on clean have a lot going for them.
I also think the reverb and the Delay, while not being Shads useable, give a very nice sound.
As with most/all software, you need to spend time playing about with all the settings, this can take forever.

Joachim / Alan
I have managed to download and install both demo's into Cubase as VST's so I can now start experimenting with both. The great thing about both these demo's they give you a full 30 mins to play around before shutting down but start immediately for another 30 mins.
Many thanks for the info
Glen

Any help appreciated.

Alan It still exists I downloaded it yesterday, here's the link www.nomadfactory.com/products/index.htmlThe Rock Amp Legends is at the bottom of the page. You have to go to Downloads to get an installer program then select 'Rock Amp Legends' from the list. It installed the VST straight into my Steinberg / VST Folder. Glen

Hi there, ever thought of using a Behringer V Amp. It's a rack unit. It contains all the famous amps+ speaker cabs at the touch of a button. They can be bought on E-bay for not too much wedge. I wouldn't be without one. Ideal for recording, you can hook your Aleses to it, then run it all through a small desk, simples. Regards, Gary. (Lexus)
