Hi Richie, That's right, but sometimes the commercial ones are better, sometimes they are not. Regards, Charlie

Hi Richie Even the free sites ask for a voluntary donation to help out with server costs, but I wonder how many just take the backing tracks & give nothing? I suspect many just 'Grab & Run' There are many fine BTs out there that are not free & obviously take time to produce, why shouldn't the person who spent a lot of time producing the BTs ask for payment? If you are after a specific BT & it's not available free, but is available to buy?... do you pay the money or go without? Yes, you can make many yourself by converting a midi file, but that takes time so is often easier to give someone a couple of quid for a superior track well sorry but i dont agree in having to pay for any backing tracks when theres sites that you can get them for free. its just my opinion.. please dont bite my head of richie Hi sircopro Just send Jan an email or PM him

I agree with you Robert.
I come from a time when the UB Hank CD's were no less than £40 each, and you had no option but to pay it if you wanted to play along to them. I have no problem with paying for BT's, and likewise if I can get one for free then better still, and yes most do ask for a contribution, and rightly so.
When I was after Eve of the War, no BT's were available, so my son and me spent over 20 hours building the track from scratch. I am happy to give that BT to anyone for free, plus any others that we did, but I would not be happy if the track was then simply emailed all over the place without my consent.
To buy a commercial BT and then give it away is wrong. This is a topic that has been discussed here many times.
We are fortunate that people out there make some excellent BT's, and for just for a few pounds you can buy them. There can be no argument in that you have to pay for some of them.
Tony

I know (and others too) that Pete's material is first class, all what you hear are real instruments, sometimes he spent a week of work to make just one single BT and that for a price of less than a cup of coffee. Sometimes I really do not understand that (some) people spent lot's of money to buy expansive gear, they want the best of everything but when it comes to a decent backing track they want to sit on the first row for free. I agree with Robert and Tony Thanks guys. Regards Jan
