Hi,
Bruce is a such a gifted musician, but he always seems to end up in Hank's shadow(!) Please forgive me for the pun. They say Bruce is fanatical about being perfectly in tune as well. I read that somewhere. But, yes, he's a great rhythm guitarist, singer and songwriter.
Regards, Scott

Hi All
I think that Bruce was mostly the glue of The Shads and apart from his rhythm, also a very good singer, songwiter and not forget producer. To me he is the best rhythm guitarist in the world and was ranked 1st in Guitarist magazine as the rhythm king of all time,so no doubt there.

Hi
As a Hank ..and other Lead Guitarist Fanatic, Bruce is and always be a Fantastic Rhythm Guitarist his Rhythm is so Smooth and Tight... What I would like to know is why did Bruce choose a Stratocaster as to a Telecaster, I would have thought a Tele be ideal for Rhythn, Guess we Learn everyday. My Vote is Hank= Top Notch Lead Guitarist Bruce = Fantastic Rhythm Brian = One of the Best Drummers around and any Bass Guitar in the Shads were Great !!!!! Cliff Hall = Top Keyboard Player
regards
Ronnie

Ronnie my guess would be that it was a Style Thing. They were so blown away by seeing that first FR Strat that only matching kit for Bruce and Jet would do. The amps, of course, already matched each other. (Its what groups did in the early 60's). Howver, Bruce has played a Tele and Jazzmaster too - lots of old video footage. cheers Ian

Hey, I'm reading that Bruce Welch has had open heart surgery. Anyone know if this is true?

I don't know for certain what was done if anything, but I do know that Bruce prefers personal details of this kind to not be discussed on public forums such as this and others, so can we respect that, please? Regards, Charlie

Just concerned he wouldn't be able to make Jet's funeral, Charlie. Nothing wrong with a bit of concern. Anyway I see that he did go.

Yes, Bruce was at Jet's funeral. I agree it is good to be concerned, but also to be aware of Bruce's wishes. Regards, Charlie

I've never seen such a down- to- earth, bare -your- soul, unpretentious interview as this Bruce Welch interview. He was as open as any fan, like you and I, in talking about his idols and influences that for a minute, you forget that this guy is Bruce Welch, the great Bruce Welch! In my humble opinion, he is the best rhythm guitarist ever.
