Ok Guys it's Xmas time and time to spare a thought for friends and musicians no longer with us.
this is different music but still guitar music.
My first guitar teacher was a a guy called Louis Gallo. I was having lessons with him during the period when my father died suddenly. Louis took me under his wing and became like a father to me. I was 20.
Louis died himself in 1988 and on his graveside it says
"Louis Gallo always remembered for his kindness and his music"
Louis was an expert and great exponent of the Django Reinhardt style of guitar playing. He wrote music and many guitar tuition books where done by Louis and published by Clifford Essex Music or Francis Day and Hunter way back when.
The following number on you tube was written and played by Louis' son Ray and the number itself has been published in guitar magazines. It is in the style of Louis and nothing at all to do with the Shadows.
Ray is also a friend of mine a teacher and pro player living in North London. He plays Gibson's mainly but is also a mean Stratocaster player. (you will see the Strat. in the background on the video) He does Good Shads numbers too.
Please spare a few moments and listen to music and help me to remember my very dear friend the late great Louis Gallo.
On the Maccaferri Solo Guitar I introduce you all to Ray Gallo playing his own composition. "A Song For Louis".
