Hi, I have seen scalloped guitar necks advertised, and I am curious to know what you would use them for. Any info would be appreciated. Regards, Maurice.

Hi Maurice, Scalloped necks are said to make string bending easier as there is less contact between the finger and the fretboard. Personally I think it would be easier to make notes go out of tune if pressing down too hard. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Many thanks for the explanation, I think you are right about the notes going out of tune, and I think it would be difficult to get used to. Regards, Maurice.

Hi Maurice, I had an Yngwie Malmsteen signature stratocaster and I very much regret parting with it. Within the last 20yrs I have had 2 scalloped neck guitars. Most people who tried my guitars pick them up and put them down again quite quickly because its alien to them and it feels different. Play them for about 2 weeks and they were for me the best thing since sliced bread, all those bends you could'nt get with heavy strings are in the past because the string just glides effortless over the fret. I could play cavatina and then wop the zoom onto distortion mode and drive into metallica very easily. Tony
