I currently use a PodXTL into an Atomic FRFR amp, and rely on that for my echo effects. However I am thinking about using a dedicated echo, such as a Quadraverb with EFTP. I have found a couple for sale online, both Quadraverb Plus with EFTP loaded, but I am unsure whether to hold out for the GT with EFTP. Any advice would be welcome.
Supplementary question: I have also found a GT without EFTP. Would I easily be able to upgrade it to EFTP?
Thanks in advance for any help forthcoming.
Noel

I would go for the GT as they are better for guitar use. The digital effects are the same. I can supply program files for either for £50. Installing from the files would have to be done by you. Regards, Charlie

Thanks Charlie – would you say the GT actually gives a better tonal quality for guitar than the Plus? I assume your files would normally be installed via a PC - could I do it with a Mac? (If so, could you email me some info about the files you provide?)

Hi Noel, My files are for use with Windows. I don't know if they could be used on a Mac. It might be possible to convert the sysex data file to work on a Mac but I have no idea how to do it. The Plus and GT sound about the same, but the preamp settings can give more tone variations. My programs disregard these settings. Regards, Charlie

Thanks, Charlie, that's basically what I needed to know. Looks like it will have to be the Plus, then. Now, if only you could supply patches for the XTL!!!

A number of people have asked about programs for the Pod but I don't know if they have suitable multitap settings. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie, Noel,
The sysex patches should be able to be patched to the GT via a mac, the only thing you need is a sysex utility for the mac.
I've just done a search on Google and several sysex programs come up for the mac.
Regards
Amanda

I was told by one customer that he converted the file to use on a mac and I think it wasn't just a name change. I don't remember if it was a sysex file or one of Zoom's proprietary files. In case of problems I wouldn't be able to help with anything to do with a mac as I never used one. Regards, Charlie

Thanks all for your advice, I now have a GT with EFTP (legally) installed and I'm absolutely delighted with it. I'm looking forward to experimenting with both Shads and other instrumental material.
Cheers
Noel
