Hello I've been offered an Alesis QuadraVerb at a reasonable price. The thing is it isn't a Q2, Q20 or GT. It's just QuadraVerb. I'd like to ask if it's worth a buy and if there are EFTP patches available for it. Perhaps I should carry on searching for another unit. It looks like this: kindest regards Piotr

Charlie is the man, but from what I remember, I think his first programmed unit was the Quad + which I got circa early 1997. Having had the chance to compare the Quad +, Quad GT and Q2, I'd say the GT had more going for it as guitarists unit, however, remember these units are now quite old and parts/battery may well need replaced sooner rather than later.

So, am I getting this right? There are no patches for ordinary QuadraVerb?

Hi Piotr, My recollection is the same as Alan's. Checking the manuals, the upgrade from the Quadraverb to the QuadraverbPlus involved, among other things, adding a multitap delay. That means the ordinary quadraverb does not have the necessary features for EFTP patches, so you are correct, there are no patches for the ordinary Quadraverb.

The Quadraverb Plus is identical in appearance to the Quadraverb pictured. The only difference is the software chip version inside. My programs will only work in the Plus version. When the unit is switched on, there will be a message on the screen to say Quadraverb, or Quadraverb Plus. If it is a Plus, it will say so, and if so, my programs will work with it. Regards, Charlie

Hello Charlie Thank you for your answer. I'll ask the bloke who sells it.
By the way. I know it's a bit off topic but I'm curious if there are EFTP patches for Alesis Midiverb4? (which appears to be the successor of QuadraVerb, isn't it?) I'm asking because Midiverb4 is still available as a brand new unit.

Is it possible to upgrade the Quadraverb to Quadraverb Plus? Maybe by means of a new chip?

Hi piotrek, For some reason I didn't see your question until now. The Midiverb 4 was being made at the same time as the Q2 and Q20, so it is not a newer design, unless it has been changed since then. I never found it very flexible for echo programs so I didn't bother with it. Hi olemuso, It is possible to upgrade by changing the chip, but I don't know where the chips can be found. I have had several customers tell me that they have found them. Regards, Charlie
