Hi Gary and Maurice, About staying logged or signed in, on the login page in the User name red box there should be a tick box underneath called "Remember Me". If you see that make sure it is ticked before you log in. If you don't see it please let us know. Regards, Charlie

Hi Phil, Thanks for noticing about the display of member location. I have looked to see what can be done including looking for a forum plugin to add the feature but unfortumately I see no way at the moment of doing it, although it should appear in a member's profile if the member filled it in in the first place. Perhaps Bill or George will see something I have not seen. Regards, Charlie

Hi Pete & Charlie, I have replaced the default avatar (I thought it was creepy!) with a plain block in the background colour as suggested. Bill Not sure about the images by member names without a Avatar but I'm sure with a bit of tweaking by Charlie and Bill everything will settle down and we will be able to find are way around everything in time It's called progress Pete Hi Pete, I agree. Bill has already suggested to me a change that will make the avatar appear as a plain block in the background colour. I am going to ask him to try it. Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Many thanks for the quick reply. Yes the remember me box is there, I just didn't realise its purpose.
Best regards,
Maurice.

Hi Charlie Congratulations to you and the Admins for a very successful upgrade. Everything seems to work fine that I've tried. The feature I use the most is recent posts as there are a lot posted when we're asleep over this side of the world. I think there might even be a larger number of results displayed than previously which is great. Best wishes Rosemary

Hi Bill, Thanks for making the avatar change, it's much better.
Hi Maurice, Thanks for letting me know that you can see the tick box.
Hi Rosemary, Thanks for your feedback. I think the recent posts numbers is very large but I don't have time to see how far back it goes. Bill was talking about adding another Recent Posts button near the top of the Home Page which will make it easier than having to scroll near the bottom of the page. I have asked him to go ahead with it anyway.
Regards, Charlie

Hi Phil and Charlie, I haven't found a way of automatically adding a members location under the avatar but if you want others to know where you're from you can have it displayed by going into your profile - edit profile - personal - most recent status and typing it in there, then save personal settings. Bill Thanks Charlie, I did mention in my second post that the "Messages" were now visible. It looks like the upgrade should be better than the old one with more info etc, are you planning to add members locations under the avatar as before? Phil

Hi Bill, my location is already in my profile, I just thought it would be be easier to instantly see where a member was from, but it's no big deal as the profile works ok. Phil

I have added 'Recent Posts' to the top menu as I and several of you find it very useful :-)

Hi Charlie, as it happens I was looking on the main page to see if I had missed the view the last 40 posts button and spotted the recent posts button so that's better than nothing and now that I see that Bill has just added another button at the top of the forum that makes it easier to access them. I just have to see if I can find an easy way to get to the last viewed post now and then that would be perfect. Thank you both

Hi Bill, Thanks for adding the Recent Posts button near the top, it should be easier for several members.
Hi Sandra, I want a feature back that allowed a member to jump to the first unread post of a thread by clicking on the background instead of the thread name as it saved me time when policing the site (which is all the time). The feature was added by code in the last site version but apparently it doesn't work in this version. I am still hoping one of us can find a way to do it. Is that the feature you are missing or do you mean something else? Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie
Many thanks, must have missed it on the login screen, just a case of getting to know where things are!
The more I use it, the more I like the new layout.

Is that the feature you are missing or do you mean something else? Regards, Charlie Hi Charlie, I never used that feature but on some forums they have a go to the first unread post in a thread, similar to the thing you describe, but as I tend to read all the posts in all the threads of this and a few other forums ideally I would like that function in the view recent posts section, if it is available. Sometimes with the old layout, when using the view the last 40 posts, there would be a few that I hadn't read as there may have been 50 or 60 posts since my last visit so I would use the view new topics and then scroll down to the time I was last on the forum and catch up on the ones I had missed. Don't worry about it too much as I am sure I will get used to using the recent posts button and then going back 3 or 4 pages maybe, until I find the time of the last post I read, then working my way forwards again

On multi-page posts, to go to next page, it seems that you have to navigate to the top of the page to select the next page. Could do with a button at the end of the page to either:- Next page or Back to top.

Hi Chris, I had noticed that and would like the next page stuff at the bottom too. Until that is possible, if ever, I haven't found yet how to jump back to the top, how do you do it? Regards, Charlie Edit: I thought clicking on the hand with the pointing finger would take me to the top, instead I have ended up liking my own post. Anyone know how to unlike a post? Edit Edit: Sorted, thanks Bill!

Hi Charlie
If you click on the down arrow next to the cog wheel top right of each post, the option to 'Back to top' is there

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply and info. Pity it's not just a visible button ready to click on though. I'm all about navigating quickly so I can run the site as efficiently as possible so it would be better for me if the old installed function (of going straight to the oldest unread post of a thread) could be made to work again. See, I can moan too Regards, Charlie

Hi, On my computers the navigation buttons '<previous 1 2 3 ... next>' float and therefore stay at the top of the browser window no matter how far down the thread I have scrolled so there is no need to scroll back to the top, the buttons are there all the time to be clicked. As are the 'actions' to go to the previous or next thread. Bill On multi-page posts, to go to next page, it seems that you have to navigate to the top of the page to select the next page. Could do with a button at the end of the page to either:- Next page or Back to top. Chris

Charlie, I quite like the new look and I'm sure it will get better as we grow into it. I do have one major quibble though. Wearing my professional cartoonist's hat, I have to say that the cartoons ProBoards are using for that ad strip and for some of the avatars are *@%#*#!!! awful!

Hi Noel, Thanks. I believe custom avatars can be created. I don't know if only admin can do that or whether members also can. If you famcy having a look and maybe even a go at creating anything let us know what you come up with. Regards, Charlie

The site logo shows on my mobile but not in the full width. I don't think my mobile is set specially to see the site as mobiles usually set them up though. Not sure what can be done. Regards, Charlie the logo image file needs to be made "responsive", this can be done in the css file, e.g. background-size: 100% auto. this would allow the logo to resize correctly when viewed on all the various devices out there, mobiles, tablets, etc.

Hi all,
On Navigation, if your keyboard has 'home' and 'end' keys they should take you to the top and bottom of the page respectively. If your keyboard doesn't have those keys then 'Command+up cursor' and 'Command+down cursor' should do the same.
I'm still looking to see if there is a way to get the floating menu to work in Firefox.
Bill

Hi Bill, Win 7 and Firefox. Both Home and End keys work and the floating menu is right where it should be.
Hi All, The location (provided you added one to your profile) should now be displayed as on the previous forum. Please let me know if it doesn't. cheers George

Thank you for all your work, Charlie & Admin folks . I fully understand that the changes were due to the ProBoards host. In the new format I was missing my favourite old top-menu 'Recent Threads' hot-link that I always use after logging in but now I've found it (or its equivalent). Bottom of the Home page Forum Information & Statistics Threads and Posts Recent ThreadsThe new top menu bar does have the 'Recent Posts' hot-link but it lists 'by posts' (obviously!) and not my preferred 'by threads (or topics)'. Cheers, Dave.
