Hi Everyone, There is a new iPad app: Yonac ToneStack. It has a multi-tap echo so-called "Cosmic Echo". I made a recording with this app: soundcloud.com/lajoss-1/peace-pipe-ipad-versionThe head timings are not the same as in the Meazzi Echomatic 2, but I think it's close enough. Regards, Sándor

Hi Sandor Nicely done..the Cosmic echo simulates a Roland tape echo. I looked at their video for this product. You can have several simulated amps, equalizers..etc and place them where you want. What is interesting also..is the way you can position microphones for recording. youtu.be/NmXW9sgkMGESheendigs

Hi Sandor
I only came across this app at the weekend and was wondering if anyone has tried it, so glad you did.
a lovely effort and for not a lot of money. Did you use the vox amp sim?
very well done.

Hi Sheendigs,
You have right, the Cosmic Echo try to mimic the Roland Space Echo, but there are four heads, and you can reposition the heads using the Mode Selector knob.

Hi Stan,
Yes, I used the British Boost amp. I think it’s equivalent to VOX AC30.

Sounds fine Sándor
My opinion is that why buy a Tolex covered wooden box filled with electrical death which costs the earth along with EFX units which again cost the earth when you can gig with this and similar software on the market?
It's like buying a mini 'cause that represents the '60s. Joe Public doesn't know the difference from a Vox to a Marshall. This craving for yesteryear isn't logical in my view. I own one Strat and a load of Gibson/Epiphone stuff and I shove my sound through a POD XT.
Build empty amp cabinet clones, shove a VOX or Marshall logo on the front and shove them on stage and play the stuff via the sims and front house desk.
Who'd know? Move on people

Wow, that is a pretty powerful little app for just ten bucks, looks like somebody did really a lot of work! Sounds very good also. I really didn't think the iPad had that much processing power to do all this in real time with that quality of sound.

So what is a PA system that is big enough to carry that load, other that a box of electrical death, tolex covered or otherwise? Opinions are like assholes - everybody has one, some not necessarily valid in the case of a working musician. if you want to sit at home with your computer, then fine, but it ain't practical on stage, I know, I tried it at the outset. I moved on and moved back again!

Have to agree with the above. Modelling amps etc do a great job for recording etc but in my opinion arent very good through a pa. The only ones that are very good for pa use are the kempler profiler and the axe fx but they retail for a lot of cash, much more than a good valve amp

That sounds pretty convincing to me, great playing and you certainly seem to be getting the best from the software.

Hi Paul,
I don't have a good iPad compatible audio interface yet, so I used dry guitar signal recorded on a PC. I just ordered a Line6 Sonic Port audio interface. It has
1/4” guitar/bass input with 120dB of dynamic range, 1/8” stereo line input, 1/4” mono-stereo guitar/line-level output, 1/8” stereo headphones output.
If I get the device, I will record a tune with it. By the way the ToneStack app like any other music app can be used with any CoreAudio compatible device.

Hi Sandor,
I must say I am very impressed with your recordings of Peace Pipe and Midnight using Tone Stack. You play very well and managed to get a nice tone from the software. I have decided to get Tone Stack myself and I have just finished recording Apache with it. I will be uploading it in the next few minutes.
Best Wishes Regards Steve B

I'm really surprised at some of the negative comments above concerning the use of apps like this through a PA live on stage.
I've been using the JamUp Pro app on my iPad through a Bose L1 Compact for live work in all sorts and sizes of venues, for a couple of years now and the sound is fabulous, best I've had since I started gigging in the 1960s (and I've used Vox AC30, Fenders and many more classic valve amps along the way). You have to get it all set up right, of course, as with any set-up.

Hi Steve,
Your Apache is very well played with an excellent sound. I think nothing wrong with the echo. Try the following setting in Cosmic Echo:
ECHO STAGGER: 0.8 NUM HEADS: 3 MODE SELECTOR: 5 DELAY: 210ms FEEDBACK: 0%
With this configuration you will get three taps, approx. 145ms, 420ms, 570ms and the first tap will be the loudest. The timing not the same as in the Meazzi Echomatic 1 (121ms, 424ms, 595ms), but I think it's close enough.
Regard, Sándor

Hi Sandor
I have Re-recorded Apache with settings very close to yours, the link is on my original thread. The setting i've used are
COSMIC ECHO
ECHO STAGGER: 4.5 NUM HEADS: 3 MODE SELECTOR: 5 DELAY: 206ms FEEDBACK: 0%
I am getting the full 4 repeats with this setting, however the changes in eq may be helping the extra repeat come through better
Best Wishes Regards Steve B

Hi Everyone, I remixed the Wonderful Land. This time is used the Bristol City amp and cab. I think it’s equivalent to VOX AC15. In addition I used another tape echo for artificial double tracking. soundcloud.com/lajoss-1/wondeful-land-ipad-version-2Regards, Sándor

Another great sound Sandor, to me the later one sounds slightly softer, if that is the right word for it. I would be happy to be able to play like that and to get either sound

Hi murraysanders,
Where can I find the echoes You mentioned. I found only one echo in Garageband's Guitar amp, the Blue Echo. It's a simple digital delay.
