G'day Barry mate,
I really appreciate your comment. For someone like me, who's only been playing for around 20 months, any friendly advice I can get from members such as yourself, is absolutely invaluable to me. What I've learned from experienced guys like you on the site is incredible, for which I am grateful, and I've made good friends both face to face and from the site. I honestly think that my immediate problem is my Vox Valvetronix VT30 amp, I've persevered with it, but can't seem to get on with it. I do know that Pete Korving uses a Line 6 Stereo Flextone amp with a 57 Vintage Strat. Do you know anything about these amps?
Thanks again Barry, for your response. Best regards - Clive

I've only just got around to trying this mod- I used a 1500pF cap and was amazed by the results. Winding the tone control back to 0 definitely gives the bridge pickup an FS-1 type sound, and makes the bridge position a lot more versatile. Thanks, Charlie.

Hi Simon,
I'm pleased that someone else has tried this with success! and agree with your comments on change of tone.

One other thing I've found with this, and this may explain your initial problems, Clive, is that the length (effectively, the capacitance) of your guitar cable will have a significant effect on this mod. I tried using my modded Strat with my Samson wireless system, i.e. little or no cable length, and the effect was significantly reduced. Still there, but nowhere near as pronounced.

Hi Simon, The answer is to add capacitance to the input of the transmitter. My 3 metre (10 feet) cable measured about 340pf, my 5 metre one measured about 680pf. Some transmitters have capacitance already but values I have seen are far to small to simulate any real guitar cable. Nevertheless it needs to be taken into account if more capacitance is added to it. Regards, Charlie
