Hi Roger, Thanks for answering. I hope everyone soon figured out how to change the patches! Good also that it is being considered a suitable unit for live work. Regards, Charlie

How`s it going troops.
I can`t remember any appliance ever, that has had so much positive feedback, not even a car! You`ve certainly done yourselves proud Charlie and John. Mine will be coming from the next batch I think Derek said it will be around the end of June which makes it 81 sleeps to go. (Not that I`m counting). Just a question that I wanted to ask guys, most people have commented on using the H&C straight out of the box with nothing else but some people have mentioned using an EQ pedal as well. Is an EQ pedal necessary? I don`t even know what an EQ pedal does so, if somebody could enlighten me, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers all
Adrian

Hi Adrian, The H&C unit will sound good straight out of the box, particularly into a vox or similar amp. Some people like to additionally shape the tone from the guitar, basically to add some mid-range boost, to achieve a sound more like Hank Marvin's early recorded sound. Have a look at this thread on EQ, started by Steve Reynolds. charliehall.proboards.com/thread/18743/sound-opinion-worthCheers, John

Hi Charlie and John.
I received my H&C unit last week, but have not had time to try it out until today, and it sounds great, easy to use and soldier proof. But yes I have a problem ? the unit is very noisy, with every thing set at default there is a constant loud humming noise even when the echo is off and all the knobs are turned off, it's like a bad earth, ground loop or dry solder joint. I am using a Russ Andrews power silencer block extension socket so my power supply is clean. I also have a Quadraverb GT, Yamaha Magic stomp with EFTP, and they are perfectly quiet when using the same setup. My setup at the moment is Fender 54 Strat into H&C to fender 57 deluxe and using Klotz guitar leads. I have other amps and it's the same with them. So what to do, call Derek on Monday and see what's what.
Cheers, John.

Great sound and great playing Derek, if you sound so good with one take then why bother to do more, I know I would not be bettering it no matter how many takes I did

Hi Derek, Thanks for letting us know you are pleased with your unit and for posting your sound file. You played it nicely, and the sound is good, especially as it was recorded direct to your PC!
Hi John, Thanks for your feedback and I am pleased you like the sounds, but am sorry to hear you have a hum problem. There should be no problem with the use of the unit with the Fender 57 Deluxe. Could I make a request please for you to try the unit with your Fender 57 Deluxe, without using your power conditioner, and let me know if the hum changes? Also, if possible, and if removing the conditioner does not make a difference, it could be very helpful for me to see if you could try the unit with any amp but preferably your own amp in a different location, or even better, a different house or venue. I am hoping to go to the factory on Thursday. If it's alright with you could you please arrange with Derek a possible solution, bearing in mind that I would like to look at your unit myself when I go there on Thursday.
Regards, Charlie

Hi Charlie.
Plugged straight into wall socket no difference still same hum, tried next door neighbor same hum then told to leg it!!, I have nine amps and it's the same with all of them. All my other delay pedals are hum free, strymon El capistan dTape Echo, TC Flashback, Quadraverb GT EFTP, Magic Stomp EFTP are all hum free so I don't know. Derek emailed me saying they will have a look if we cant sort out the problem on line.
regards, John.

Hi Derek
Yes I tried the power supply from the Magic Stomp which is 12volt ac/ac which works fine but it still hums.

Hi Charlie and John, got my H&CSE yesterday and immediately, when the courier handed me the magic box I could tell by the weight that it was quality. The packaging all seemed fine to me so I think that Ian (Harley) was just unlucky! On inspection before connecting any cables, I could see that a lot of thought has gone into selecting the best components. On connecting input, output and power cables, all had a tight fit so there should be no chance of accidental pulling out at the live gig situation. The display is perfect for my old eyes. I haven't really had a chance to play around yet but have went through all the patches, so I know there is fun times ahead. I have had most of Charlie's EFTP units but I am happy to admit that this is the best. Thank you for all your hard work over the last four or five years guys, and thanks also to Derek and his team at Golfstream for their professionalism in handling sales and marketing. Below is Theme From Exodus. American Standard Strat with 57-62 pickups, into H&CSE P30 Long Tom #1,then Sonar Power Studio USB into the laptop. app.box.com/s/aafxflorfth7hokvk9p3t0be4gcs3pog

I took the Hall & Collins to the South Yorkshire club at Doncaster today and let some of the members have a go with it, allowing me to sit back and listen. I fed it through Mike's Vox AC30 CCX and it sounded delightful as I expected it should and the difference was obvious between it and the Quad GT that was being used, even though the GT sounded good. The difference in tone is amazing and players said they could feel the difference whilst playing as well as hearing it.

I took the H&C for use by the players at the Northwest Shadows Club today and everyone was knocked out by the sound. Thanks for a superb unit, you really nailed it this time.

There are of course some who will never hear the difference. One chap claimed he couldn't tell it apart from the Zoom G3 but I immediately had my doubts about his hearing as he had already told me that he was changing the pickups on his PRS guitar for Kinmans as he thought they were too bassy. I have the same PRS guitar and find the pickups great, I can get a decent Shads sound on it using the slit coil knob, so it goes to show people hear stuff differently.

Oddly enough i find the pickups in my PRS Custom 24 very bassy but then i like the strat sound so anything different is not right to my ears.

Hi Dave, I find that people make certain remarks about equipment because they bought something else instead, people that have a good ear for music will always get better results with different gear, regards gary
