I first saw the fabulous Shadows in the 60s backing Cliff Richard a wonderful energetic show and great music, after that I loved the Shadows music but did not see them again until about 5 years before there final tour and again on their final tour, while they were great to see live, I didn't think they were as good as I remembered them in the 60s. Perhaps it is all about expectations? Regards, Mel Mel, I think it's all to do with the times, ie. You were young, probably starting to feel your feet as a teenager, it was excitement as the music was new and vibrant and although there were plenty of instrumental bands around, there were none quite like the Shadows and let's not forget Cliff Phil

Steve, there are quite a few people who have replicated Hanks sound, the ones that have as far as I know have not had an Abbey Road Studio 2 plugin Phil

No mic'd up amps and drums, no sound engineer, probably only a 50watt PA and it was also down to luck as to how the acoustics in the hall were...I remember it well Phil

Steve, The main thing is to have fun and if your lucky to get that sound or even get close to it then you should be pleased. There are guys here, me included who like to push to get that much nearer but that's just the way we are. As for Joe Public, I guess about 80% think you are close as long as you have an electric guitar, an amp and some sort of echo, sometimes without an echo, so relying on their prases is not recommended Have fun and enjoy your playing, Phil

Pete, I can remember leaving Blackpool in our van for a gig, I asked the other guys where it was, they said, Liverpool, I said "where in Liverpool" the Cavern was the reply I can't remember getting the gear in but the dressing room, if you could call it that was through the opening on the left of the stage looking from the front, there was an upright piano there. The place was full but I had the feeling from the audience of "What are you going to give us as we've seen it all"! In fact we went down well but the sound there left much to be desired as it bounced around the brickwork. It was a good experience though playing on the same spot as all the "names" before us, the same as when I was in Abbey Road's Studio 2. Good times.....i'm glad I was there At that time Phil

....the seller is Phil Kelly,....... tonio Actually I think the seller is (was) Mickey Kelly, Phil's son. The auction is ended now with this message "This listing was ended by the seller because the item was lost or broken." Erik It's strange as it's still on Gumtree, perhaps it's not broken there! Phil

Why couldn't I see ACTIONS Ok so I've made a bookmark, now I'm told to go to Profile and I should see a "Manage Bookmarks" which should take me to a link to decide if I want email notification, all I can see is a "Bookmark" which doesn't take me to a link? Phil

Am I missing something? To get email notification of thread replies, the bookmark button has to be pressed in that thread, where's the bookmark button? The only thing I can see is the little box, even when that's ticked no link appears in mt profile?

QUOTE:- "If anything happens to your computer, stolen, irreparably damaged, hard-drive crashes, you can use Time-Machine to restore everything you had onto a new machine, exactly the same as at the time of the last back-up."
I assume this doesn't mean programs, just files.

Hi Bill, my location is already in my profile, I just thought it would be be easier to instantly see where a member was from, but it's no big deal as the profile works ok. Phil

Thanks Charlie, I did mention in my second post that the "Messages" were now visible. It looks like the upgrade should be better than the old one with more info etc, are you planning to add members locations under the avatar as before?

Hi Charlie, I know it's early days but here's another observation:-
One thing I notice, when a PM is sent to you it doesn't show as "New Message" in fact it doesn't show at all, you have to go to > Send Message > Personal Message > Inbox, in other words you have to keep checking your mail ?
It would be good if an email notification could also be set up as on some other forums.
