I used to use a cheap Strat fitted with a roland midi pickup, the only problem was bends as they wouldn't be recorded as such and had to be edited in later.

A lot to do with post production as the guitar sound on that video is very dry.

Quite possibly Sandra but what it all boils down to is not what the guitar is valued at, but what someone is prepared to pay for it which is a little bit different!

A new switch accompanied by additional parts, sound interesting, especially when they're not mentioned!

They are so knowledgeable in that shop but like Rob said, everything is researched before the cameras are on.

Hi Philc, Others This does not bother me at all of course , the reason is that we are thinking with Patrice Bastien, French expert in vintage guitar and electronics, on the routing options that could have been used in 1960 depending on the equipment that was available (patch the well known auction site? compressors, on or two revers (EMT and Chamber) Aux send pre and post fader, and I started recording by doubling the edge of the desk for the lead guitar and performing the processing on this lining with the effect start in Pre-fader This gives interesting results but we want to validate this hypothesis by studying the synops of the desk thank you for your interest in my post Bernard from France
Hi Bernard, If I've got this right, your splitting the guitar track so that one is dry and the other pre fader compression & reverb? Yes for compression as you would want all the guitar sound to be compressed, I do this with my Altec436c and RS124, but not dry as well as you would be defeating the object, reverb is a little different but there's no need to pre fader it. After studying Studio 2 recording techniques for some time, I'm reasonably sure that the process was pretty straight forward, however, on occasion they did go out on a limb and experiment. Phil

So Bernard, if you don't mind me asking, what is the object of your enquieries regarding the desk?

What exactly did you want to know as the REDD desks and sound techniques are quite involved!

That should sort you but I don't like the lead as it is, you could possibly couple up to the jack socket that already installed, it just means removing it, threading the lead through and soldering.

How would he know it's damaged in a "couple" of places? check with a loupe first from the soldered ends, to see if there's a break or a dry joint.

I have the album, but looking on the net it has 32 tracks, as far as I remember mine has about 24, the quality is good however mine has a few "mock" stereo tracks, one is Midnight which doesn't sound good at all as it sounds wrong and there's panning from side to side.
One has to bare in mind that just because something has been remastered doesn't mean it's going to be better, it's all in the hands of the guys that are doing the job, if they are into the early Shadows music and actually understand what is what then there's a chance that everything will be ok, if they are just mastering "tracks" then who knows!!!
