Hi Richie I agree with you that he is very clever to programme all that lot and he plays it well - if you like that style, which I don't, but there is no doubt its clever stuff. cheers ian

Hi AndyI guess the answer is "a lot less than there used to be". Why do it and find that your work is now being flogged off on the cheap by these guys? We've been telling the well known auction site for a long time about these guys. In fact even this week there have been two independent Reports made to them about these exact ads. They are still on the well known auction site! Nuff said. BTW - the "bold" style of mine is just a style thing. I dont buy into this internet / e-mail "using caps is shouting, using bold is aggressive" bollocks. Who sez? Dont bring down any kind of political correctness on me. lol !! Actually I started using it because my very good friend JJ Jeffrees in Oz, a great guitarist who posts superb sound files on here, is going blind and needed to see either BIG writing or bold so he could read the words with his magnifying glass. And it kinda stuck. cheers ian

Sadly these are the usual the well known auction site Rip Offs of other peoples work, namely UBHank, Shadows Workout, Casting A Shadow etc all copied shamelessly and flogged off as if it is their own work.Do you really think you can buy up to 144 Backing Tracks legitimately??!! There is a thread about just this topic on ShadowMusic at the moment. Despite all the "Threats" about action if WE dare to copy them, there is actually no real information that the So called "Corvettes" really exist. Dont bother to tell the well known auction site. Forget VeRo, PRS,MCPS - we've been complaining for years and nothing changes. As long as they make their money, the well known auction site are happy. UNfortunately, guys like Warren Bennett, Dave Robinson etc have stopped making BTs because Piracy is so rife nowadays. Sad. Ian

I am going to have a look at the preset and try to write the preset on a piece of paper for the Valvetronix..and post it here later onwards..for those not having one.. I guess one can also apply these to the Valvetronix Series. Have fun! ;D Sheendigs I have a VT60 and neither have nor want a VC12 pedal and YES - I would be very interested to see what "settings" come out of that "2-1 Hank" pedal setting. cheers Ian

hi ian dont know if you ment me about high horse but anyway my iead to show this post was for that reason the way he uses the pedals very clever Richie No Richie, mate - I didnt mean you personally. Maybe it should have read - "before anyone gets - - ". It was so as not to incur the wrath of other WHO fans. Mind you anyone who puts up a youtube file and headlines it "Amazing! Must See!" must have ego the size of the USA. It is a clever use of pedals however. cheers ian

Actually, thats what I call "having the most effects pedals in the world on one pedalboard ". Sure, you've got to be able to play a guitar but it ain't the most challenging piece of music when you take way all the trickery!! What IS clever is how he makes the pedals work for him. cheers ian ps - before you get on any sort of High Horse, I am a long time WHO fan and I still dont think anyone has the beaten PeteTownshend original from "Who's Next". AND its 40 years old this year!!!!!!

the well known auction site is just a cash making machine - for the well known auction site. Just trying telling them about the consistently advertised and sold FAKE SHadows BT CDs which are nothing more than pirate compilations of UBH, SWO, Past Masters, Casting A Shadow, et etc. They are not interested - they just take the money from these crooks and let them get away with it. cheers ian

The problem with any BT for the "live" versions of Going Home is that the band FOLLOWS Hank, not the other way round (as you do with a BT). Hank speeds up and slows down throughout the INtro for dramatis and effect and Boy it sure works. I cant see how a BT maker can cope with that - its bound to wrong for "someone" just as the CAS and Gorans versions are wrong for "someone". Howver, once you are through the Intro they both bowl along very nicely and you can really get stuck in. Its hard to get your notes timings in line with Warrens or Gorans BT but once you have it makes the whole piece so much more worthwhile. cheers ian

Maybe we should use this as the Tutorial !! LOL! That'll teach him for taking himself too seriously with all this self-indulgent pointless Shredding. No matter how "clever" he thinks it is , without all that huge Gain, compression and overdrive it may well sound just like this Youtube file. ;D cheers ian

Ah Well - it must be me then!! I know its an "KIngs new suit of clothes" comment but it was fine until his brother started to play!! I'm all for new ideas and arrangments but his tone, style and OD to boot are (IMHO) entirely wrong for this tune.Just because they are "famous" doesnt automatically mean it's great. And - its way too long! Sorry! IAn

I still enjoy the Final Tour DVD - its clear that everyone is having a Good Time!! To answer Didiers comment about sound - one of the Criticisms of this DVD is that Hanks sound in what was Part One of the show was almost 'overdriven' compared to Part 2. It was filmed in Cardiff and a mistake had been made on Set-Up whereby Hanks echo Output control had been set too high. Usually the correct "sweet spots" of equipment are marked with something like Tippex dots (I know Bruces kit is) and it got overlooked and couldnt be put right until the Interval. To me it doesnt matter - the sound is "LIVE", full of Energy and sheer Professionalism. cheers ian

All of the above! Lets not forget the late Tony Peluso who played many fine solos and fills onCarpenters records for many years. Both SOlos is "Goodbye To Love" are outstanding. Fasteric - Move it:Cliff richard & The Shadows(or to be exact The drifters) Well actually it was Ernie Shear, a session man drafted in with his Hofner Committee.

Ah - so there you are !! Welcome, Rosemary! All styles of music here, not just Shads. I look forward to your Instro version of "Tie my Kangaroo Down Sport" in due course!! ;D One of the special things about THIS board is, not only do we have Charlie on hand almost all the time (don't you go out, Charlie?) but every kind of help from playing technique, to amp/guitar tech help, to recording and mixing help that I can understand (sometimes), and expert sections too on subjects I enjoy reading but often havent a clue what they are talking about! ;D Er - did I say "one"? cheers ian

I can commend Elixir strings too. I have used them for years and (touch wood) have never had a string break. The tone lasts a long.time too. No idea how they acheive that but the strings don't seem to be under as much tension as some, so maybe that's it. I use 11s and can get good bends easily, provided you dont want or expect the same bow and arrow bending performance of your old 9s. You will be rewarded by a very nice increase in tone. cheers ian

Strikes me that with the MBs set for a 'sweet' Bridge tone (Hanks most used pup) the neck pup may have sounded quite "boomy" and going to the Middle was probably a smart idea. Today, of course, the Desk guys can fiddle and twiddle to their hearts content and we are none the wiser. cheers ian

Richie I WAS 5 years ago (2005) but I seem to recall Hank using at least 2 Strats - one was the 40th Anniversary with KInmans in (like my Brason Strat) and the other a Johnson made specially FOR Hank and had heavy strings and 54 style pickups. try these pics for infp. I'm sure that if you run the DVD you'll get much better close ups than these - but its a good start.
