When I get my scanner working I will post a copy of the pup switching combinations possible on my Strat Deluxe which I found in the paperwork in the case and had not really looked at before.
Its a genuine Fender document supplied with the guitar and shows the switch numbered as neck pup..No.1 etc to bridge pup....No.5.
Sounds like the right hand not knowing what the left's doing at Fender HQ.
When giving details in a sound file I shall stick to neck, neck and middle etc

Hi Alan...I've got a PRS SE Santana model..the SE range are made in Korea (south not North!!!! and are extremely well made and competent guitars but not as budget price as many other makes around. USA made guitars are superb (altho some of the colours area bit eye-watering) but pretty pricey. Theres a new(ish) range of budget USA made PRS (the S range I think) which are more affordable. Everyrhing about a PRS says class but not everyone likes the bird inlays. Baz

In discussion with a couple of other veteran Strat players at a Birmingham shop recently, the topic of which way round you count the 5 way positions came up. I've always counted neck selected as no.1 and bridge no.5 but one of these guys was insistent that it should be the other way round. I've never come across anybody who doesn't call the bottom tone control No2 so it seems totally logical to count the switch positions using the same logic (i.e. the physically highest in normal playing position being No1). Of course none of this really makes the slightest difference but would be interested to hear from others. Baz PS Is it different for Lefties ?

Hi Sheendigs..... for posting .......The BR1600 is of course quite elderly technology but it still takes considerable application to make use of its possibilities, which is why you see them even now advertised on E-bay as "hardly used". I plan to use mine for as long as it remains reliable as I've found computer based DAWS rather daunting......I do however transfer my final WAV mix of every track to AUDACITY for final polishing and converting to a very high resolution MP3 file before storing on BOX. app.box.com/s/tkoujjg3jlteux3igf1gRecovering from an operation a month ago which is restricting my time on writing, playing and recording........ so here is a track I was working on before surgery which given different circumstances I would probably have spent more time on. Bass is a Squier....keyboards, percussion etc from a Yamaha E323. Accoustic guitar is a Martin OOOM. EFTP patch used is "Duane" Baz

Hi Guys and thanks for taking a punt on this soundfile.......much appreciated Chris......not knowingly based upon anything else but we all are awash with subconscious musical memories. There was a great Beeb4 documentary about Neil Sedaka recently and he openly admitted to basing "Oh Carol" on "Little Darlin" and taking the rhythmic pattern from the Beach Boy's "Let's do it again" for the monster hit he wrote for Captain & Tenille "let love keep us together". If it's good enough for him etc etc.......LOL Cheers Baz

app.box.com/s/b3tnc72qonho6f8g1x09Based on Paul Carrack's version of an old Brenda Lee song, I've tried to keep the arrangement simple to let the super melody of the song shine thru. Recorded on a BOSS BR 1600 desk utilising in built F X and drums, my guitars are Burns Marquee and American Tele. Bass is Squier 5 string Jazz. Keys etc from an elderly Yammy k/board. Regards Baz PS.. if you get the chance to catch Paul live, make sure you don't miss out. He and his band just ooze musicality.

Aren't we in danger of forgetting about MUSIC. Some of the most memorable, creative and infectious music can/has been made on pretty basic equipment. ;D Don't let the pursuit of tone lead you up dead end(and expensive) pathways. I'll get me coat Baz

Hi Darryl........... In over 55 years of regular playing on a wide variety of guitars, I've never found much benefit from using heavy gauge strings. Unless you've got really strong hands, you'll find anything heavier than 11s very difficult to play "expressively" in conjunction with scale lengths of 25.5" particularly as you get older. I also like the D'ads with wound 3rd and find 10's perfectly capable of producing completely acceptable sounds.
Baz
PS Tony Iommi(god-father of heavy metal--Black Sabbath) uses 8's suggesting its more to do with pups and amps
