Hi All.....just found a website for vocalists that recommends gargling with dilute apple cider vinegar....they say its a wonder cure for removing catarrh from the vocal chords...........coupled with rest of the voice and warm up exercises before letting rip. Baz

Doing a gig last night (1 hr 40 Mins) and although I only do about 40% of the vocals, with 3 numbers to go I lost my voice I'm at the back end of a heavy head cold but was not prepared for this. Problem is I've got another gig on this Saterday (13th)........Anybody got a wonder cure they've used in the past. Baz

WARNING SEROIUS LIBERTIES HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN THE MAKING OF THIS SOUNDFILE Listeners of a nervous disposition are advised to prepare a darkened room in case they need to lie down afterwards No animals were harmed in the production of this track altho my dog does like a sing-song. No attempt has been made to sound like the originals so any similarities are totally accidental More seriously...this is a demo of my self-build Strat No1 (see projects in progress for full info)but briefly is swamp ash loaded with Ironstone Hybrid pickups (70's tonality) which in order of use are Neck..Middle...Bridge via the emulated output from a Blackstar ID15 TVP and using on board effects onto a Boss BR1600 desk Other instruments are a Squier PB Special bass, USA Tele (rhythm), and a Yamaha e323 Keyboard...drums are from the Boss internal library. Any comments/thoughts/donations/insults are equally welcome Regards Baz app.box.com/s/p7c7hfqby1e7t82avoam

Hi Al...don't want to pour cold water on your quest but be careful,............ it could end up like the cat chasing its tail.........a very expensive but ultimately frustrating experience. Baz Mesa boogie recto-verb 25 sounds sensational...but thats only my opinion of course............but to really hear a great amp you need to be able to use it at reasonably high volume levels

Hi ....I assume from your opening line that you are somewhere close (geographically)to the vendor........unless you are hoping that this might prove a good investment it comes down to how it sounds and what its like to play...........if you're not sure yourself ,have you got an experienced colleague who could try it and give you a second opinion..........giutars are fundamentally about how they feel and play..........if they look good as well then that's a bonus.......if it was all about appearances, Martin wouldn't sell many of their mid range acoustics.....if you like it then and only then does the price enter the equation (IMHO) Regards
Baz
PS. I'm also with the others that say £600 is not an bargain price

Just recalled that Joe Brown recounts the story that Eddie Cochran showed him how using two firsts (rather than first and second) opened up the world of string bending and vibrato. This has got to be late 50's...not sure when Eddie was killed in the road accident.

Hi.I'm very much with Tommy on this topic......using strings of a certain manufacture or gauge because somebody else plays them is absolutely not guaranteed to make you sound like them. I've never heard of anybody being obsessively interested in Clapton's, Hendrix's,Knopfler's (etc ad nauseum) string gauge. You should use a string that you enjoy the "feel" of (IMHO). Too heavy and it can get difficult to get "feel" into your playing. Heavy gauge also does not automatically mean thick tone....Tommy Iommi (godfather of heavy metal ) famously plays 9's. Baz PS I'll get me coat

Hi Rog.....the lead guitarist in my band has two Strymon pedals. They are eye-wateringly expensive but phenominal pieces of kit....... he paid over £400 for the reverb pedal alone. These demos suggest the Deco and Capistan units are of the same order. Baz

Hi Steve........I also use a Blackstar from the ID TVP range.....Julian is right that a good valve amp will give you a gutsier more authentic tone,,,,,,,,but we are talking tiny margins here.
For the money the Blackstar is absolutely remarkable.
Baz
PS........I play in a five piece 60's/R n R band and use an ID 30TVP. Its got enough guts to hold its place in a pretty solid line up so the 100 head thru a 2x12 should give you huge clean headroom

I have just finished a self-build (see projects in progress) It all went reasonably well but the most difficult part without a doubt was fitting the "claw" that takes the springs for the Trem, which was basically due to the difficulty in drilling pilot holes for the retaining screws. With a standard power tool its very difficult to get the right angle of approach in the shallow pocket that takes the springs I should think the fender factories must have a special tool for it. Anyone had the same problem and found a way to get around it? Baz

app.box.com/s/nzscgnyzko4clot9oyldOriginal track written and recorded on a BOSS BR1600 desk using inbuilt drums and FX. Gear is Strat Deluxe on lead and second guitar lines, Babicz Elec/acc on rhythm, Squier P/J special and synth from Yamaha E323. I've not written lyrics for the whole song but hopefully you will "hear" the title line in the final phrases of the verse. Any critique welcome. As with other recent posts a link below will get you to the BT. Feel free to use it for your private purposes only please Baz app.box.com/s/u8v3mlgb0v2b2iyzm7il
