Hi Tim, an ideal Instro to play for double stops is, Theme from a summer place and its not too difficult a tune to get to grips with, at the end of each verse, a double stop. cheers Pete

Hi Noel, I agree completely, Noel, I too have my work plastered all over everywhere without permission, as an Architectural modelmaker and although I am flattered, I do know that certain traders have used my work to represent what they produce as manufacturers. It is then that you have to ask questions, so yes, if your work is used to make money for other people, then it is a copyright issue. cheers Pete

Hi Len many thanks, glad you enjoyed the night, I listened to the shadows on the live at the ABC theatre '1962', its interesting that 'Hank' himself didn't play the tunes exact to the record, examples, Sleepwalk and Shadoogie, differed, but at the end of the day, its how you want to play it 'at the time'. More recently, Cliff and the Shadows reunion tour, The Savage 'bridge section' was completely different from the record, in fact you couldn't get more different, so its okay to add your stamp/interpretation to a tune, so long as you make sure its recognisable :-). cheers Pete

Hi Phil, thanks for the positive comments and I take your point re 'notes' played, I guess its what mood I'm in at the time, if it was for a specific dedicated recording, I would play as per record but in this laid back environment, no one new any different :-) cheers Pete

Hi Pete, yes, your correct, it was just great fun playing the music we love and all for free, the days of getting paid for playing a guitar went years ago, ha ha and now you know why, its about enjoying it. cheers Peter

Hi Barry Yes, your right, 90% wouldn't know but if you know there is a Shadows fan in the room and even more, he plays the shads, then the pressure is on, to try and get it something right, ha ha :-) Pete

Hi Barry, Ahh, I it was just a fuse ha ha, shadows music is always the same, as you know, its note for note and it never fails, you drop a note and all heads turn, when playing Rock music riffs, no one knows any different happens every time. I'm not sure were FBI was in the set lists but just to say, my mate counted 40 numbers covered by the end of the night, I was zapped by the end of it ha ha :-) I would like to point out that the Kinmann pickups I have in the guitar, fair up a lot better than I thought they would for earlier shads tunes, so I guess its working out the compromise between the 56 pickups and the Kinmans, in my opinion, I think the Kinmans generalise the sound for all periods better than the 56s would. I am well aware this is down to what personal equipment it is your using of course. cheers Peter

Hi Barry, yes, sweet as a nut as they say, the AC15/EF86 channel is key I think for the early first period sound, makes a real difference, as you know you are limited as to what you can pick up with a Phone mic but it gives an idea, my mate Tom is going to record the full do in April, he has some fancy video cameras, so should get a more accurate representation. the AC30 combined with the H&C really does deliver but again its the sweet spot via your EQ on the Amp that is the key to getting it right so to speak. There were 7 recordings in all I will put up FBI, complete with duff note ha ha, the thing with this Gigg was that it was all just fun, nothing formal or serious, it was just having a good time playing out favourite Numbers from the Shads and a few others. cheers Pete

Hi Pete, yes, not sure how I can fix it, I tried to link the video, I can get it to work on here but its into my facebook account, I'm not sure its the best way. The video was done by a friend at the club on the evening and I think its because of Facebook protection of the video source owner, why it wont let you view it. I will try to see if I can find a way around it. cheers Pete ps, I tried to delete the post but you cant delete a post.

Hi Colin, no doubt , opinion plays its part for sure re the gallop technique, on the record, the technique sound like he dampens the strings, as you would on the bridge 'but not overly done' as in the FBI damped notes. I remember seeing the Shadows on the 'change of address' tour and Hanks gallop technique was quite a way from the original, he tended to use the second note for longer periods, difficult to explain in text. just to add, I don't thing there is any gallop on the first notes only the second, the first string is only hit once. Hi Rob, very impressive tone/sound in my opinion Apache is the most difficult to get right tone and sound wise, very good, as someone pointed out re gallop, I guess only us Shads fanatics would notice the incidental details but most wouldn't, well done. going back to the gallop, Hank himself has played it differently on a few occasions, listen to the early live in South Africa and ABC performances, not to mention the actual recording :-) cheers Pete

Hi Ove, great version and nice harmony guitar, it may be just me but it felt a bit slower than the original, like it was dragging back somehow and maybe a bit more reverbe on the effect would get it closer. great none the less Ove. cheers Pete
