It's a hobby for me to Andy.I see it as a personal challenge to myself to achieve these things sourcing the music, learning it and then trying to perfect it all.The original sounds and equipment used I see as a guide to what your trying to achieve not as the Holy Grail. Just to get near to some of these instrumentals is a achievement let alone trying to record it and video it.That is why I admire very much the members who do this and post it.This in itself acts as a spur to try even harder.I can not think of anything more satisfying than playing a guitar and getting a real good sound out of it.Every member has there own guitars, effect units, amps ect. in trying to achieve there own personal goals probably within there own personal budgets. If I won the lottery (not just a £10 but the jackpot) I would probably get one of everything plus the equivalent of a recording studio (I don' know who i am kidding as the wife would probably not let me) Not probably but definitely not. Still no harm in dreaming. Have to go now and do the housework yes Dear i'm coming i have finished on the computer sorry Darling I will move the guitars later and no i will not be twanging today.Don't it just make you LAUGH Keep Smiling Pete

HI I don't see myself as a negative responder. Like many members I have a few Fender guitars which I purchased knowing full well what they are, without the sales marketing of "like this persons guitar or that persons guitar." Just as previous members have replied, charging a lot more than for a standard model. "as they say you pay your money you take your chances" Yes it is good to bring out a new guitar if that is what it is not one with a guitar heroes name attached to it to try to appeal to the more gullible of people I would like to say this is only my personal opinion and not a hard fact .I think the original posting did ask for opinions on the subject Pete

Hi Peter Just watched the sales video about Eric Clapton for his new strat. It's amazing how he saw Buddy Holly ect. playing a strat and how it influenced him to get one and now he's doing a sales promo to influence more people to buy his. Fender see it has good business, in truth it his and good on them for it but i say this openly buying a guitar like whoever, does not make you play like them it is mainly for the sounds it makes as most people who have one knows. These marketing men by attaching a famous name to a guitar there bound to appeal to a certain section in the market place. If it was sold as just another strat what would the appeal be like? Who knows

Hi Lee Having listened to both versions before and now there is a noticeable difference in that it sounds much stronger in tone you must be a bit of a perfectionist (said in the nicest possible way) Shadoogie is one of those great tunes it's difficult to keep still to when playing you can see you really enjoyed playing it. Best Regards Pete

What are members opinions on Ernie Ball strings weather the Super Slinky range or individual custom range for quality of sound and tone you read and hear so much about them being the dogs b-----ks but the proof is in the use of them That's why I'm asking this questions of members who purchased and used them specifically. Thanks Pete

We all associate HBM with the red Fender Strat and the White Burns guitars but over all his playing years with originally The Drifters then renamed The Shadows does anyone know or have knowledge off or links or recordings of any tunes/instrumentals ect. of him playing with any other type/make/model of guitar(other than electric acoustic used in Guitar Tango)Also and any other artist playing Shadows tunes with any other type/make/model guitar. Look forward to your leads and replies Pete
Looking through some old threads I came across one started by Fenderplucker in Feb 2009 listing all the guitars used by HBM sorry i should have looked before posting this

Hi Julian Your right the Telecaster was not a take off of The Esquire it was an alternative to it Yes they were both made at the same time 1950 possibly the Telecaster were individually made where as the Esquire on a production line type basis hence the term first production line guitar. Thanks Julian for your replies Pete

Hi Frank and Julian Thanks for your replies interesting to read. Julian yes the Esquire only had the one single coil pick up were as the Telecaster had the 2. So that is probably why they stopped making them. Frank your spot on (you 3 starer you) the Telecaster was originally known as the Broadcaster but the name was already in use so they changed it in 1951 As for the Fender Lead 1 I can not find anything in the book i'm looking at with reference to it but would also be interested to hear from any one who might know. Frank. At a Irish wedding reception the D.J. yelled would all the married men stand next to the one person who as made your life worth living. The Bartender was almost crushed to Death. But he is expected to survive eventually. Pete

The Fender Esquire was the first production line solid-body guitar came out in 1950 just before the Telecaster.Production was discontinued in 1970.As any member come across one or know of any guitarist that used and recorded with one to hear what it sounded like? All replies welcome Pete

Hi Everyone I purchased and used the springs (thanks to Jim) and along with the cotton (thanks to Gary T) it as done a really good job.I think the springs are a must with the trem arm to anyone without them see a earlier reply by (0ldfart) and (Garystrat) Not to be used on a Squier Classic Vibe as the threaded hole is open at the bottom and the spring would drop right through. Thanks to all Pete

Hi Steve Reading all the replies to your posting it goes without saying I think that everyone has a great deal of feeling for the guitars and equipment they have acquired what ever the make or brand. Myself when looking at guitars and equipment if I could afford it I would have one of everything on offer plus the equivalent of a recording studio ect. As other members have said if you can afford it and it's what you want go for it if it does not work out you can always sell them on. Wondering what it might be like does not go away as you get older. Pete
