Hi all I forwarded this to an IT consultant I know and whose opinion I would value. His reply to me was--
'Ignore it. It is a chain email. It is a well known hoax. It is impossible to burn a hard drive. Don't send it on. If you like email this info to Charlie Hall'

Peter For the inside I figure its 'crushed velvet'--you can buy this relatively cheaply in a dress/curtain/habadashery/upholsterers shop. If you're not too particular about colour etc you will often find suitable 'offcuts/end of rolls' for very little money too! Regards David

Hello everyone and belated Happy New Year to all! I've just bought a used Deluxe Player Strat (MIM) on Fleabay and am well pleased with my purchase. However it was supplied minus its gold finished screw in tremolo arm and I'm on the hunt for a replacement. Can anyone enlighten me on the correct thread size --I know that US/Jap/Mex etc guitars are not necessarily the same. Any help would be appreciated. Regards David

I bought 3 sets about a year ago to try--hated them from the first 'thud'--sold them on this site and went back to my Ernie Balls.

Even after nearly 40 years of regular gigging I've sometimes been a bit put off when playing a gig when I realise that my every move and note is being critially scrutinised by someone who I know is a accomplished player/musician/performer etc etc. I find it a calming influence to ask myself 'wonder why they are not playing tonight?' If guitar body size is an issue you might like to try a Gretsch 5122 which is smaller sized guitar but still offers a big Gretsch sound. I have a 6122junior which is a similar specced guitar made in Japan and is superb--its no longer made. The 5122 is made in Korea?? and is a bit less expensive! Regards David

I believe the Mark 1 does not have a headphone socket for the convenience of allowing you to listen as you adjust your settings rather than have to be plugged in to an amp. The Mark 2 does. As far as I know that is the only difference. Regards David

CAREFULLY cut a standard slot in it with a hack saw deep enough for a good flat head screwdriver to fit well and take it out with that--replace Regards David

I've seen Tommy live in Belfast on a couple of occassions--he's an awesome player and master of many styles-quite simply mesmerising- wonderfully enjoyable stuff. His younger brother isn't bad either--he plays some electric Shadows type tunes on a strat clone. Both guys are not only talented but class showmen. If you get a chance to take in one of Tommys concerts go for it its a real experience. Regards to all David

As someone who lives in Northern Ireland and therefore very well accustomed to this sort of civil unrest you have my sympathy. It does not matter why it started or by who but this sort of hooliganism can eke on forever if it is not nipped in the bud. There are people out there who will do just whatever they want for their own pleasure or profit regardless of how it affects their fellow man. The reason it started long forgotten --it is just an excuse for their anarchy. Without wishing to preach 'fascism' everyone should be aware that it needs to be put down and VERY HARD and by whatever means possible no matter how apparently distasteful or politically incorrect--no pussy cat cat footing about and let the 'bleeding hearts' who make mealy mouthed excuses for this sort of behaviour stand in front of the police/ambulance/fire line---that should change their minds PDQ!! Rant over!! Regards and keep safe to all David

Just a quick observation on the Korg Stage Echo mentioned earlier in this thread. There are 2 distinctly different models --the SE300 & the SE500. The SE300 features a spring reverb the SE500 does not.The SE300 has 3 replay heads, the SE500 has 4 and it also features a sound on sound facility. The SE500 has added low impedance input/output connections to give enhanced performance when using with a desk. Both are fabulous machines and do the multi tap echo thing very nicely. I'm a little spoiled -I have 2 of each of them but my preference would be for the SE300 in spite of its supposedly 'simpler' build--to my ears it sounds so much livelier and more 'organic'(musical?) than its big brother. Regards to all David

Is it not just a fancy name for an equaliser? which boosts or reduces chosen frequencies in the sound 'spectrum'. The manufacturers and marketing people spend a lot of money trying to convince us all that each of their products is a 'must have' without which we are doomed to guitar playing mediocrity or inadequacy. The real difference that many of these 'must have' tools makes is probably no more than a thinner wallet!--My experience and considered opinion--right or wrong!! Regards David
