Hello all I've always 'hankered' :Dafter a George Harrison rosewood telecaster--never been able to source one and probably couldn't have afforded it even if I could have. Solution --have a replica made. I have a solid rosewood tele neck and I've been saving a solid billet of rosewood for making the body. I have asked Alan Brason but his current commitments professional and family mean that he is unable to offer assistance --(incidently he did a sterling repair to my Anniversary Marvin Burns neck which I posted about some time back --thanks Alan) The rosewood billet cost quite a bit so I'm not about to offer the job to any Tom Dick or Harry. Anybody recommend an alternative artisan to Alan for the build? Regards David

As a long time glasses wearer (short sight-myopia) and when I started to need to remove my glasses for reading and good close up vision (presbyopia kicked in) I tried bi-focals and then vari-focals but couldn't seem to get on with either at all. Earlier in life I had attempted both hard and soft contact lenses without much success. As a keen fly fisherman who needs to be able to see up close clearly for tying knots/flies etc and also to be able to see well at a distance to spot the trout 'rise' I was in trouble--besides I had had enough of rain on my glasses and steaming up etc. I opted for laser eye surgery to correct the myopia meaning that I would only need specs for the close up work.I can now see 'a midge on a mountain' in the distance and use easy readers for close up.That was 11 years ago. I believe there is since a newer version of laser surgery which corrects both myopia and presbyopia simultaneously. Each condition apparently is caused by different phenomena --myopia by the misshapen lens in the eye and presbyopia by the aging muscles which are used in focusing on the retina. So far I'm happy enough --my only regret that such surgery wasn't available when I was a younger man --I might have been able to see a rugby ball on the pitch and who knows what dangers that would have held for non Irish international teams! Regards David

I think Alan Brason might be the answer--has anybody got contact details for him? I live in N Ireland so would have to remove the neck and post to him. Not sure I would trust it to any of the 'luthiers ' over here --probably make a better job of it myself!! Regtards David

Derek If it has been overlaquered (most have) the way to remove it is to carefully sand it and the laquer off first having removed all the hardware and ensured that all other parts of the guitar are protected--best idea to remove the neck for easier access.Once done this leaves you with a blank canvas on which you can reapply any other decal/artwork desired and then reseal with appropriate laquer spray Regards David

Sorry for your trouble Steve Your unhappy experience prompts my comments You need to be extra careful when sending anything fragile by post or courier. Its imperative that you read and understand the t&c's,caveats and exclusions that these operators impose --the enhanced insurance that many 'offer' will not cover 'musical instruments' nor 'electronics' (a double whammy for amps/echoes/pedals etc).Loads of disappointed claimants find this out too late to their cost.Sure the operators will take your premium off you quickly and gladly if you want to buy 'extra' cover to the replacement value of the item but might tie you in knots if something goes wrong. READ THE SMALL PRINT!!!--ask questions if you're not sure-get emails stating what they are covering and at what cost and above all BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!! Regards David

Firstly I apologise for my comments I mean to offend no one but as a menmber I gotta say as I hear I'm not hearing any of the 'richness' or the 'throb' or ;expression' of any HBM sound/tone. It all sounds a bit 'plasticty' to these old ears. It all sounds very 'scooped' and 'middley' to me-- I can't quite define it--I suppose its a bit like the difference in sound of an original quality valve amp and transitor amp which insists it sounds 'just like the original' and disappoints in all areas except the manufacturers wallets! There again I may not be very discerning and stand readily to accept all points of view but I suppose what I hear seems to have 'lost its SOUL' My opinion --for what its worth Regards to all David

If you are considering this imho for what its worth from the online reviews I have seen or listened to and having owned and used a s/s Echoplex for years I think the Catlinbread Belle Epoch is very hard to beat for that sound and nowhere near the price of this new Fulltone. Regards David

Point to notice--if BT ever emails you they will address the email using your actual name--not some generic term like 'Dear Customer', 'Dear Sir/Madam', 'Dear Valued Customer' etc etc--neither will they ask you 'revalidate your account' because of billing difficulies' or other such nonsense. He had a long and fruitful, and we all hope, happy life. Believed to be the 'father' of the affordable echo effect and also credited with the development of the 'slaving' system of amps in the sixties which evolved into the mega powered pa systems of today.Like Mike I remember the Move (roadies)unloading a large Wem pa from a van back in the late 60's (Blackberry Way time)at a club in Cookstown N Ireland,a gig where my band was playing back up.What a sound!!!--Was I just starstruck or was it the gear???--A bit of both perhaps?? God bless Charlie.

Parts are so readily available and easy to change nowadays it nearly impossible to be accurate and sure that your guitar is as it was when it left the factory--therein lies the quandary!! Regards David

Just took delivery of above today. Its made in China but I must say it really looks great! I bought it from Thomann --and full marks to them for their speedy service, price and free delivery. Only available in black or s/burst I opted for s/burst (not too fond of black guitars myself)--Once I get her set up to taste I'll post my thoughts on how she performs-probably a lot better than me anyway!! Regards David
