The programme is TV--made for 'entertainment'! Clearly its tweaked by the producers to what they think will attract or appeal to viewers. Don't believe everything you see or read cos a lot of it is gonna be BS!! Regards David

My comments were directed at the claims of some music copyright holders ie mega buck publishing corps rather than Youtube and its policies. But I also take issue with YT for facilitating (upholding?) such claims which would stymie, disrupt and impede an individuals right to teach or learn by their chosen method. That being the case its worthy of notice and discussion. David

This seems to be ever increasing and theres lots of comment on you tube about it--seems the multimillion pound corps are down to their last few quid so they're going thro' back catalogues of songs to which they might hold copyright of and trying to stuff the average Joe!!---Cheap barstewards!!! See url for one of 'The Guitologist' (Brad Linzy)who is just one of the many who are complaining of their tactics. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhwuyyqQWHQRegards David

True—if you run thro’ OD it matters not a jot (as Billy Connolly would say) but in the video he demos clean sounds as well. I was pretty surprised at how well the ceramic magnets sounded in comparison to the Alnicos—certainly persuaded me not to discount them out of hand if I was contemplating a change! D

A stereo hi-fi amp with passive speakers would be the norm. Any stereo system with a 'phono' or 'aux' input should do your job fine Just think of your turntable as a pre amp Regards David

I haven't heard the Illegal Eagles Mick --a shame because they're a lot more local to me than Talon--I do know that they are reported to be excellent and cover Fleetwood Mac tunes too --great advantage of having a female vocalist in the lineup methinks!! Regards David

Just been to see Talon at Armagh Marketplace Theatre last night--must be the 4th or 5th time!--What a band!--those guys just ooze musicality--perform the Eagles just as well as the orginals (I've seen them live a couple of times too)--highly recommended if you get the chance--worth a visit!! David

Gus --my own wife Roberta was diagnosed with something similar in 2012--she had remedial surgery followed by 6 months of chemo. Thankfully she has made a full recovery and is bouncing about once again. I tell you this because I know how you must feel--its almost as if both of you are afflicted and very distressing. But todays medicine is wonderful and I promise you there is light at the end of that dark tunnel. Wishing Marlene a speedy and full recovery and you both future rude health and happiness. Regards David

I have the non coil tapped version in natural and its fabulous. You should be able to pick an excellent used one up for around £350--perhaps the coil tapped one a bit more--lovely looking, easy playing and great sounding guitar--its more a 'luxury' 335--I would consider the Epi dot more as Epis 'budget' version and it too is a great value instrument--I would recommend either without reservation. The guitars that I have experienced are Korean built--can't vouch for the later Chinese ones so check that out! Hello all I have a Laney LC15R amp which is spot on to my ears for most of the stuff I like to play with the exception that when its operated at anything above minimal volume it emits an uncommon level of background noise (frying chips!!) I realise that its a fairly 'gainy' amp but I wondered if anyone could advise on any way to reduce this by changing components etc so that I would still have the 'gain' but quietening the background din? Any suggestions appreciated Regards David

Don't know what the answer is to this question as 'one man's meat is another man's poison' but I always remember a couple of sayings a (marginally) older band leader used to tell me in my gigging days ie--'No play = no pay!' and 'Volume is no substitute for good playing' He could whack it out too when 'necessary' I found out he was right!! Regards David
