Hi, Not sure if this might be slightly off track but might fit in here. I was always of the belief that stereo was the way to go, being a Hi Fi nut it is but only to a certain extent, I listened to The stereoversion of Wonderful land then the mono version and Oh Wow. What a difference the mono version is, it’s bigger and more rounded less this sounding, try it see the difference, the mono version original is far and beyond the lesser quality stereo version, even my daughter heard the difference right away and she’s not a clue about such things usually Peter

Hi Barry, I agree really I see the guitar as the front end as we have with HI FI, a really awful turntable through good equipment will show it up for what it is, it will amplify is shortcomings. Use a good guitar through really awful equipment, is better than the opposite way around, it’s just as how I’ve found it through the years. At our open mic nights in a Rainford, I use my custom shop 56 kinman pickup set up, through my H&C +Vox AD30 modelling amp on the AC30 setting and I get a ballpark shads sound, everyone is appreciative of the sound. I can tell you for sure, it is nothing like my AC30, but I would rather play a good guitar through the AD30 with a good guitar as opposed to my AC30 and really awful guitar, I have tested it both ways, cheap guitar through my AC30;is left wanting, no comparison. Cheers Pete

George, I agree the I think the a Fender has a fatter more rounded, fuller sound. This video has been up before here, to be fair, the live recorded sound doesn’t help, Im sure it would have been a more pleasing sound if one was there in the audience. Personally, I think the Burns had its place in the mid to late 60s, Fitting in to the beat music sound Merseyside etc. Peter

Hi Peter, I think according to the H&C, the Setting for the Snowman, is one that uses the effects created by two Roland301 units if that’s wrong, I hold my hands up to be corrected. Peter

Yep, I have always been old school and of the opinion that the Amplifier needs to be miced up as in the video, it’s the tone from the speaker that the mechanics inside the Amp produce that has to be caught as accurately as is possible, to go direct through a computer or via the mechanics of the Amp bypassing the speaker is disaster to me. My opinion ha ha. I’m sure we all have our preferences.

Hi Mick, Thanks for posting this, the sound is okay but are you putting the microphone to your amp and recording with a video recorder of some sort or through the computer? To me it sounds like going through the computer, I find when recording through a computer, there is this compression sound to the picking of the strings or perhaps it’s just me, it’s the lack of ‘Bite’ on the strings, how did you record the guitar? Thanks Peter

Hi Bill, Will investigate, Just to point out, I don’t have a problem with paying a fee for a facility to send video etc but I thought it a bit rude in that Photobucket barred my photos and videos, when at the time was free. I think that my existing photos and videos should have still been active and future ones , paid for. So since that point I have been unable to post up video, quite frustrating really as we had a full Gigg video that we could have posted up free but now not possible. Peter

It’s obvious to me that the guy here, has just been fed the information from another source and reading ofF a script, had he researched himself then perhaps his script would have been more accurate. My 6 year old grandson would find that the Shadows used a Meazzi, in a 5 mins search, to be fair most of the info is about right, mostly ha ha🙄 Peteru

Very sad to here of this, was a very good guitarist but I felt he didn’t have the finesse/ touch that Hank has, he will certainly be missed by many and condolences to his family and friends. Pete

I’m not well up on Bruce’s guitars but I know it was late on when he got a Stratocaster, possibly61, certainly had it for the young ones film. There is an early photo of cliff and the shads in Cliffs front room and a Bruce has a semi acoustic electric, same on’ I think as used’ in Expresso Bongo 1959. I was told many years ago by a reliable source that the telecast hanging on the chair on the first lp, was borrowed but can’t confirm that. There is early footage on you tube with cliff and shads performing to a live audience and Bruce is playing a telecaster not the jazz master as we often saw him play. Pete

Hi Charlie, Thanks, yes it was more a practical thing than anything else, it didn’t look very professional keep leaping over the Amplifier during a Gig and knew I needed a junction of sorts just to keep it tidy. A well known local guitarist told me that a simple junction would work but I would loose signal and a drop in tonal quality, unless I used a buffer. In all my years playing, I had never heard of one before but I do understand that it keeps the signal high as if it were plugged directly into the Amplifier. Sorry for the bad grammar in my text🤭 Thanks for your help Pete

Hi there, Has anyone had any experience with a guitar buffer? I got one for Christmas, my issue was having to keep climbing over the Amplifier in gigs to unplug the guitar jack from an EF86 mod then back into the normal channel of the AC30. I needed an A& B junction but one were you don’t loose signal, so a Buffer was needed, I got the ROHS Belcat. 521 junction buffer. I haven’t got round to using it just yet but wondered if anyone else had experience with one or currently using one and hearing a difference. Cheers Pete

With tin hat on, I have never really understood the need for tabs, You just learn the part by finding the notes on the guitar but I guess it must help some people. I have seen it as a mechanical way of learning a bit like reading music, it’s better to be free to express the music rather than learning the language and to learn we’re your notes are on the guitar, Surly this helps in the long term without being restricted to reading of a paper. I do hope that this comes across the right way and I don’t wish to imply that anyone reading tablature are wrong but rather just as I see it. Eeek, I’m a wanted man ha ha😂👍🎸 Happy playing
