I did a little research into string of hits a long time ago,the results being both of the above units on different tracks,2 strats...1 with 11/50 strings the other with 9/42 with the exception of the top E being a .46 as the .42 kept going out of tune,(compare "heart of glass" to "Argentina" re guitars,a ds 1 distortion pedal,(mentioned by Hank at the time when interviewed about Cavatina, 1 AC30 used was modified a couple of years earlier during mwf era. A great album indeed followed by the miserable "Another string of ....... hope you're all well.....gary

Hi Charlie, Maybe an idea.... is it possible to disable the postings of only the peeps who go off the rails in the future? So the die hard fans on this site, who behave themself (and support this site for the good part of 20+ years) on the boards... are not being hanged to dry so to speak... I can't tell, what a sick making experience it was when I couldn't go on this site, just the other day. Any news of EF86 or is it on hold because of the "lockdown"? Cheers Rob . Hi Rob,I don't think there's any help for peeps that go off the rails in the future....

It's interesting about the RE-3 digital echo,as it didn't exist until a year after the snowman was recorded.

I tried the angled claw thing before, there's no advantage unless you're using 9-46 strings and you want to bend up 3 steps on the G,2 on the B and 1 on the E.

It might be a good idea to discuss a song in particular from a certain era, maybe from an album or a live performance, there's plenty of info out there covering Hanks 60 year career.

In a recent interview I'm sure Hank mentioned he used a tube screamer to fatten up his sound on his last album.

Hi Leslie,A good starting point is to stay on the clean channel, bass, treble and mids at 11 o clock and start low with boost and presence, and a splash of reverb at about 2 o clock...hope this helps....gary

I remember having a custom shop strat and I didn't like the neck so I got Alan to make one, birds eye maple,22 frets, med jumbo fretwire.I eventually sold it with the original neck so I then had Alan make me a fiesta red light swamp ash body, just like the next I picked the specs,I then added the easymute block and tremolo with CS 54s,I wouldn't know it's value but it sounds identical to an original 50s strat...regards gary
