Hi Steve....try Pete Allen in Warwick www.guitartechnicalservices.co.uk/index.htmlHe was foreman at Patrick Eggle guitars when they were based at Coventry........A bit of a geek but that's no bad thing when you're looking for high quality attention to detail. Baz

Hi Sheendigs......understood.............if the angle of the strings behind the nut gives no problem when playing , I personally wouldn't bother with an extra tree.........just adds another possible friction point to the string run

Hi Sheendigs.........you say the strings are not as straight on your "Marvin" guitar by which I assume you mead they are closer to the edge of the fretbooard on one side...........here's a tip I picked up from the G&L (Guitars by Leo) website to adjust this.........and I'veused it 3 times on guitars brought to me for set up (with bolt on necks) very easily.
Just slacken the 4 screws holding the neck plate.... a quarter to half turn on each should be plenty.....leave the strings under tension........and gently tap the headstock or nut end of the neck away from the side where the strings are too close to the edge.....i.e.if the bottom E is too close to the fretboard edge, tap the top end of the neck on the same side. Retighten the screws when your happy with the result

Have purchased from Andertons on several occasions and they seem a well set up outfit.........the only problem I ever had was when it took Fed-Ex 3 attempts to deliver an undamaged Epiphone Les Paul I ordered. The cavalier way the returns were flung into the back of the van had to be seen to be believed. These were mid range price guitars but were only protected by the standard triangular box lined with the odd polystyrene block so it might be worth insisting on better packing if you buy from them. Hi Sheendigs..I have built an amp from a kit and found it daunting..........as Darryl says you need to be adept at soldering and also aware that cored solder gives off noxious fumes. Having got past the assembly stage you then need another set of skills to build a cabinet............and then..... another set of skills required to cover the cabinet with tolex/vinyl. All in all a considerable challenge...but could be rewarding if it turns out great Baz

Hi Tommy............I had a Marquee Pro and I assume your guitar has the classic strat type trem with 6 or possibly 2 screws.
Is the back end flat on the body?..........if so it could be (as Ian suggests) that someone has overtightened the claw retaining screws or possibly that some one has "blocked" the trm by inserting a wooden block between the metal block string carrier and the body recess wall. (I believe Clapton does this to his Strats) If so you'll have to remove the inserted block which could be simple or easy depending on whether its fixed in place.
Hope this helps

Hi Kay.............wonderful to hear from you after so long............but such troubling news.
If your consultants have no real idea how to treat your health problems it must be easy for you to get depressed about life especially being unable to enjoy playing.
I' m sure many other members will join me in wishing you all the best and in hoping that your condition will relent and improve over time.
Best Wishes

Joe...there are many high quality monitors that are not too big but as Mike says quality comes at a price.
You don't say what "expensive " means in your terms but for around £500 you wont go far wrong with Yamaha's NS10 "White Cone" monitors. Look on auction sites and you might get them "Used" for under that figure.

My 13 year old grandson is taking an interest in guitars (and girls) and has been listening to some of my own compositions and recordings.........he thinks I'm stuck in the past and that I write sluggish and dull tunes (He's probably right on both counts) . so this is a (vain) attempt to do something up tempo. Using my trusty BOSS BR1200CD to record the track, I used:- 1 My G&L Comanche for all guitar tracks via a Boss DD500 Delay and a Roland XL15 amp (bought via a well known auction site from the BHF fund raiser shop for £32.50 2.Farida PB bass (also from the afore-said website.) 3. In-built drum sequencer 4. Yamaha E323 key board for organ and some additional percussion. I thought I might try it out on you guys before risking him hearing it. Started life as an up-tempo Latin American number but returned to after several months and completely altered. Laid down on a Boss BR1200 using drum machine. Other percussion from a Yamaha Keyboard. Bass is Farida PB style All guitar parts are on a newly acquired G&L Comanche using the neck pup ("Z" style pups which are claimed by G&L to be Leo's final design and which are completely noiseless). Put thru a Joe Meek compressor, BOSS DD500 Delay and a Roland Cube 15XL Keys......Yamaha E323 Ease on Down

I'm still waiting for Box.com to reset my monthly bandwidth limit (which controls the number of downloads which can be made from my account); so I've posted above the link to my BT (which you'll be able to listen to) and if you want a copy of the BT please PM me with your e-mail address. A nuisance but should be back to normal soon hopefully.

Hi Guys........if you go into your own box account settings and find help, you can register as a forum user and check out questions which have arisen with bandwidth.
From your account page you will also find (for a free account) that you have a 10GB monthly bandwidth allowance which should zero-ise at the start of each month.........from at least one of the forum posts it would seem that this doesn't always happen and then contacting Box direct will be necessary.
I think that I will find this necessary next week (i.e.after 1st May) because my Mp3 files (as George has suggested) average around 7 or 8 MB so I find it extremely unlikely that downloads of one or two of my files have managed to reach 10.3 GB (as shown on my account page) in the period from April 1st to date.
We shall see.

MY wife and son saw him live in Birmingham in the 80's and they still maintain the it was the best show (of many concerts they've been to) that they have ever seen. A remarkably gifted musician and performer.

I'm sure many members use Box.com free account to host their soundfiles as I do myself. This weekend another member has reported that one of my BT's would not download and after checking my account I did find that my monthly Bandwidth limit of 10 GB had been exceeded. I'd never heard of bandwidth before and as I've only used 4% of my cloud storage it had never occurred to me that there was some other limit on my account. Bandwidth apparently is the extent to which shared files can be downloaded per month and 10 GB per month sounds like a substantial amount. Strangely if I paid £7 a month to upgrade, theres' no reference to what extent bandwidth would increase. Any one else come across this or got other thoughts on the topic? Regards Baz

Hi Sandra and Chris......thanks for your interest and posts.
I've checked my account with Box and it does appear that I've exceeded my "Bandwidth" for this month which limits the number of shared downloads that can be made. It is reset at the start of each month so until 1st May I will withdraw the offer of a BT download. Considering the number of past downloads made form my threads I'm surprised this problem hasn't appeared before.
The long term solution would be to upgrade but this costs £85 per year which hardly seems value for money.
If anyone wants to send me a PM with an e-mail address I can send a download from my PC file
Regards
Baz

I play second guitar in a party band. (all but two of us are 70 or over)...we only include. Foottapper (our signature tune) and Wonderful Land in our sets. Our lead guitarist uses a MIM Strat thru a Zoom G2 (without EFTP) into a Roland Cube GX80.
If I had a £GB for every time we've been told how well we do these two numbers ..............well I'd have several £zzzz.

Hi Dave..............one of the regular members on this site has recently posted some highly impressive soundfiles using a Harley-Benton Strat-a-like which cost well under£100. I'd concentrate on your playing technique and enjoy producing your own "sound"..........it would be much cheaper. Regards Baz PS If I bought the same golf clubs as Tiger Woods, I'm totally sure I wouldn't score any better.

I would think what you've read is the suggestion that a 30 watt valve amp can be as "loud" as a much higher rated solid state amp.
