Hi CarlyMarvin
I have the same set up for recording (G2) only I normally take the headphones output on my amp to the LINE-IN on the PC (BLUE).
Assuming you have the latest version of Audacity (I'm running 1.3.11) you can set up the latency in the Edit>Preferences>Recording section.
Make sure that Overdub: Play other tracks while recording new one is the only box selected.
Leave the Latency for now and click OK.
Go to the Help pages and you need to find your way to the Recording Preferences section. The easiest way is to click Menu Bar in the left panel. Then click Edit in the main panel on the next screen. Scroll right to the bottom and select Preferences dialog. On the next screen click Recording and you'll finally get to the Recording Preferences section.
Scroll down to Latency and click on the Latency Test link in the last line and follow the instructions.
I've done this and I get no problems with latency when recording.

Have to agree with Fred, I've put a 90 deg bend in mine and it solved 2 problems at the same time. Attachments:

Hi Karlo Try this link you will find most of the Shads tabs here, www.songsterr.com/a/wa/artist?id=4909To a certain extent they are "free" if you are prepared to scroll through the tab a can do a "print screen" and save it to a graphics program (I use Paintshop Pro). You can then combine the screen captures and print them out. Some of the ones that I have saved this way have needed 7 or 8 captures but when combined print out on 3 sheets of paper.

Hi DC
I've got the G2 without the pedal.
With the G2 you can simulate the use of a volume pedal by setting the WAH/EFX setting to SL and play around with the adjustment knobs until you get the right sound. Then you can turn the effect on and off during the playing of a tune by setting the 'Play Mode' knob to WAH/EFX and pressing one of the foot switches to turn the effect on or off as required.

Hi Ronnie
I think that ww 0.22" means a wire wound ie not plain G string.

Hi DC
Haven't got the tune here at the moment but from what I remember of it I think that a volume pedal may have been used. The pedal would be in the off position, the string plucked and then pedal used to bring up the volume.

Hi DC
I've just purchased a pair of Logitech wireless headphones in the hope of not getting strangled every time I play. They work fine but unfortunately I cannot use them as there is a definite delay between plucking a string and hearing the result. This doesn't happen with my wired phones so must be something to do with the wireless signal.

Hi George
I've got the G2 without the pedal as I think there are only a handful of Shads tunes where Hanks uses it.
With the G2 you can simulate the use of a volume pedal by setting the WAH/EFX setting to SL. Then you can turn the effect on and off during the playing of a tune by setting the 'Play Mode' knob to WAH/EFX and pressing one of the foot switches to turn the effect on or off as required.

Hi George
Couldn't agree more. I have a Zoom 606 that I couldn't find patches for and didn't have the patience to play around with myself. Found this web site a couple of months ago, checked out one of the cheapest effects boxes that Charlie has programs for (couldn't justify paying hundred(s) of pounds for one) so treated myself to a G2 for Christmas and have been very pleased with it (and Charlie's patches of course).

Blimey do you have to change the strings , I thought they were only replaced when they broke . I've still got the original strings on my Squire Strat that I bought 8 years ago. I quite like the tone down on the bass strings for some of the older, mellow stuff like Peace Pipe and Blue Star. Admittedly I only play at home for my own enjoyment and have only just over the last 2 or 3 months started 'playing' again after a break of around 40 years. When i bought the strat back at the end of 2001 I had intended to start playing again but after about 6 months I gave up again as work got in the way. Now I'm retired out here I've got a lot more time on my hands. Before I left the UK I did buy a set of Golden Sixties nickel strings with the intention of changing them but haven't got round to it, also they are 11s and I presume the original strings on my strat are 9s so that would cause me a few problems if I change them, nut slots for one thing.

Hi
Just got round to watching the DVD and think it's great.
There's a few thing that I noticed whilst watching:
1. Wonderful Land seemed to be played at a faster tempo to the original recording.
2. Hank seems to use the bridge and not neck pickup for the muted parts of Atlantis.
3. Hank seems to have reverted to a belt transmitter (well actually it was on his strap) for his wireless system whereas on the Final Tour DVD he just has a transmitter stuck directly into the strat jack socket. Wonder why he's changed back to the system he used when wireless first came out.
4 On the outake interviews with the fans in Ireland the American woman has a 1960ish American program of a bloke by the name of Cliff RichardS, any relation to Keith?
5 In the first half Cliff refers to playing to O2 for the first time so I presume that this was recorded on the first night there, in the second half he mentions playing the O2 for the second time so is the DVD a compilation of both performances?

...not do you learn by tabs, score or by ear but do you learn one tune and then play it all day every day until you are note perfect (and possibly bored to tears by the tune) or do you try to learn 3 or 4 at the same time so that you have a bit of variety.
I've just taken up the guitar after a break of about 40 years (now retired early so have more time on my hands ;D) and have started re-learning the Shads tunes that I used to know in the sixties. The trouble is that learning one tune for about a week and only playing that one tune would drive my even more nuts than I am now. So I'm learning 5 tunes, some fairly easy (Peace Pipe, Wonderful Land) and a couple a bit more difficult. The problem is that my mind starts wondering while I'm playing one tune and I start thinking about the next one, the result is that my fingering goes to pot.
How do you more proficient players learn?
I must say that it is easier to learn by ear now than it was in the sixties, back then I was using a reel to reel tape recorder with pre recorded tapes, winding the tape backwards and forwards just about wore both out. Now with the PC and programs like Audacity it means that you can select a part of a tune and play that part over and over until you've got it. You can also slow down the tune and increase the pitch so that it sounds correct when you play it slowly.

Hi Roger
Assuming you have a PC, download Audacity (free) and make copies of the tunes you want to lengthen. Load the tunes into Audacity and you can insert 'Silence' of any length to the front of each tune and save it back to your PC.
