Hi Tim - Paul Simon wouldn't give permission for this one to be included on Hank's Mastertrax CD. I had your email so I've sent you the BT save Ian doing it on his return.
Cheers Phil

Don’t cry Tears (Gråt inta tårar) is a track from Swedish musician Roger Paulsson’s Dance Band Vol 1 album BT Available here :- www.nostalgiband.se/roger/backtrax.htmI was requested by a friend to make Tabs for it so I decided to record it at the same time, It is a very simple song and very easy to play on the guitar. The Tabs are FREE to download from my website here :- www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/scores.htmlPlayed on my Fender custom Stratocaster 56 NOS fitted with Kinman Impersonator 54 v3 Pickups on Bridge Position through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with EFTP (Echoes from the past) Patch 0-36 . Sound recorded in Cubase SX 6 and edited with the Video’s in Sony Vegas Pro 9. Please enjoy Don’t cry Tears (Gråt inta tårar) www.philmcgarrick.co.uk

Hi Ger. I’m curious - why do you post twice each time? Dave I think I can answer that for Ger - It's because Charlie's site has 2 sound files sections. This one has access to anybody visiting his site. The other one is called "For members only" and as the name suggests you have to be a member in order to access the sound files on there. Hope this answers your question..

Hi Pete, Istvan & Dave for your good comments - I just Tabbed out the Shadows recording from one of their early albums And played along with Jet,Tony and Bruce Lol - It's always fun using an original recording. Dave - I agree about the pickups I do like them a lot - much higher output than the Fender noiseless pickups that came with that guitar.
All the best... Phil

Thanks very much Garry glad you liked it.
Yes the BT is the original with Hanks guitar removed it seems to have worked well without any noticeable deterioration of the backing.
All the best.. Phil

"Sleep Walk" is an instrumental tune written, recorded, and released in 1959 by brothers Santo & Johnny Farina, with their uncle Mike Dee playing the drums. Prominently featuring steel guitar, the song was recorded at Trinity Music in Manhattan, New York City. In 1961 The Shadows made a great recording of it and it appeared on many Shadows Albums.– since then there have been numerous “Modern” versions of it “Hank Marvin’s” 2005 Strat Pack version being very popular, For my recording I stuck to the Original Shadows recording of 1961 and played it on my Fender Custom Stratocaster 56 nos fitted with Kinman Impersonator V54 V3 pickups through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with EFTP patch 0-02. I made tabs out the way I played it which are FREE to download here :- www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/scores.htmlThe BT is also FREE to download here :- www.philmcgarrick.co.uk/CD.htmlSound recorded in Cubase SX 6 and edited with the video takes in Sony Vegas Pro 9 Please enjoy “Sleepwalk” http:www.philmcgarrick.co.uk

I thought I'd better listen to the interview myself after posting the thread :-) And tonight I had time to spare instead of watching the Voice on TV Lol and very glad I did.
Parts 1 & 2 are a total of 70 min long and now have been combined into the one "click" and covers everything from how the Shadows came to be in the '50's up until their final tours and beyond.
Very slick interview I have a feeling Bruce has had practice :-)
Thanks to all on behalf of John Hannam who have listened and commented.
Cheers Phil

Thanks guys for all your kind comments about John. It's just to make people aware of what's happened.
Up until John had a stroke in May we were in a local band called "Amnesia" :-)- John was the lead guitarist, I was rhythm plus a bass, keyboard, drummer and Female singer. We only ever did 1 live gig last November and just used to practice every couple of weeks and were building up a full set. John was making a good recovery - his voice was gradually improving and he could still play the guitar. The whole band met up a couple of weeks ago to discuss the future of the band and John reckoned around Christmas he would be up to rehearsing again. We are all so glad we met with him on that day and had no idea things would take a turn for the worse.
Regards... Phil

morning phil...……...just finished listening to john's other tracks, they are really, spot on . do you have any inkling as to the gear he used and the method used to record, I think maybe there is a lesson for us all regards les Hi Les, He did all the video's at my house using the same method as me. ie no Amp - O/P taken from the Alesis Q2 into Cubase.(usually patch 0-36) He was fond of using a Boss CS2 compressor at the start of the link rather than adding it in the mix. He used a Fullerton Stratocaster which was from the '80s. Regards.. Phil

I've just heard the sad news that my friend John Skelton has passed away. Some of you may remember him as the lead guitarist in the Jet Harris band he also posted on this site from time to time. John had a stroke in May and was making a good recovery but yesterday while out walking he suffered a fatal heart attack. I made several duets with John for YouTube and John had his own channel with the name "Loxsilan" Probably best known for his recording of "Sleepwalk" www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoQ5vy9krOYHe will be sadly missed. Hi Justin - a long time since we last met - I remember the great duets we played ( I almost kept up with you on the duet "a Tall dark Stranger" Lol) . I really wish you well with your "Shadowing Hank Tribute show" You did great playing with Bruce and his band at the Shadowmania Lakeside venues which I posted on YouTube. I think you are doing the right thing - the right age, the talent, the looks !! (the glasses helps) and the enthusiasm to play the well known hits and even sing ! guitarist know other guitarist's talents and I have a lot of respect for your playing and I'm sure if given the right breaks you deserve to be well known. Nothing much my way of Gloucester for venues to play but a serious suggestion is The Shanklin Theatre on the Isle of White, www.shanklintheatre.com/contact.aspx I have visited them twice in recent years , once just The Rapiers and once with Jimmi Jemmain and the Rapiers - Both were sell outs and a smashing atmosphere - Well worth giving them a try. I hope you do really well - and I'm looking forward to my 2 free tickets ! All the best... Phil

I agree - France were brilliant especially the 19 year old Kylian Mbappe who will be a superstar ! Croatia were a great team and seemed to own the game for most of the match. Pity England didn't get to the final or my latest video might have done better. Lol.

I always use Stringsdirect, top firm. I had a 'dead' sounding low E in one set, I phoned them and they put one in the post which I received next day. Yes Baz my order from Stringsdirect came next day ! they seem a great firm. TIM - I've been using Elixir Nano web for at least 15 years. They are great strings don't go rusty and always sound bright. I tend to keep them on until they start fraying which is well over a year. This time I've gone for the new Optiweb 11-49 @ £1 more than nano web's they have the thinnest coating to date so will give them a try out. Cheers Phil

I wondered if anybody had the tab for the small runs Hank plays on Sacha between the two parts on Hank Plays Live. I’m pretty sure it’s in D, but I’ve looked and listened to that DVD and watched Phil McGarricks, but it’s just eluding me. Thanks in advace, Tim Hi Tim, I have Tabbed that bit if you let me have your email I'll send it. Cheers Phil
