Phil, Hanks original wouldn't be banned because he would be paying royalties. Phil Thanks for your replies - That's a good point Phil. I paid royalties to my son for the backing track Lol. I guess as The Eagles are an american band any banning would start in the USA. Cheers Phil

Hi Len - Yes I know a lot of people who put these disclaimers on but they still get certain videos barred. I had a BeeGees instro cover (You win again) barred and totally removed a while back - I waited 6 months and tried again and now it's on there.:-) . I cant find any real logic to it. Cheers Phil

I've recently had a few videos blocked in the USA for "Copyright claims" - These are very old ones that have been on YT for 7 years. Nearly always Eagles instumental covers - "Take it to the limit" was one - just my own arrangement and today "Hotel California" Hank Marvin's acoustic arrangement. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9LXWXVuSikI've no way of knowing if Hank's original has been banned - the versions on YT still work in the UK but may have been banned in the USA ? Does anyone know why a Hank cover or a Hank original should be banned in the USA but not in the UK? I had a similar thing with "Moonlight Shadow" a few years back - They banned my cover, and Bruce Welch's shadows cover from a Shadowmania video - I appealed and eventually (3 months later) they re-instated both the video's with no explanation. Here is the email I received today... Hi random275,
Due to a copyright claim, your YouTube video has been blocked in some countries. This means that your video is still up on YouTube, but people in some countries may not be able to watch it.

Hi Mike, Just found this ! what a long thread. Just a quickie from me for what it's worth. Prefer plain 3 string on electrics, why because the tone changes when you go to wire wound. A lot of solo's use the top 3 strings and you dont want to hear the difference if the 3rd is wound. keep em guessing.
On acoustics a different story need a wound 3rd to give more power. Plain 3rd's are weaker on acoustics.
Just my opinion... Elixir have got it nailed.
Cheers Phil

Hi Charlie - I thought that was a really good interview. Sue Marchant asked just the right questions that the majority of listeners would be interested in, and you answered accurately and quickly with very good demos.(no uncomfortable gaps) I was impressed very professional ! Phil

Thanks Alan and Chris for your replies. The J45 is known as the workhorse and is the most popular selling Gibson acoustic of all time. There are so many variations but I'm very pleased with the one I chose. Chris the Gypsy jazz guitars I used to play when I first bought them but I don't play that style properly and they just sit in their cases or take up wall space so time for a change.:-)
All the best... Phil

I Decided to sell my 2 Gypsy Jazz guitars (David Hodson & Steve Toon )and leave all that to Hank, Lol which funded this new arrival today.
It’s always exciting when you buy a new guitar so I made this short video to show the arrival of my Gibson J45 Maple burst. It was made in the Custom shop of Gibson’s acoustic factory in Bozeman Montana. It’s limited to a production of 75 and there weren’t any in the UK so I purchased it from Thomann in Germany who got it to me in 3 days. (very impressed with them) It sounds wonderful and I hope to demo it soon. Has the LR Baggs transducer and preamp which is handy.

Hi Pete - Yes I was a bit surprised at his comment I think he got out of bed on the wrong side :-)
Hi Brian - I agree with your comment - for the early 1960's sound they have got it nailed - It sounds even more authentic since they started using pyramid vintage gold flat wound strings.I believe colin uses 13-56 ! I wouldn't fancy bending those! Lol.
Hi Roger - Yes good to see you to at Lakeside and glad you liked the video's.
All the best... Phil

Thanks guys for your replies - Yes I tried to set up on the balcony where I have video'd many of the Shadowmania's but the sound guy told me I was in his way and plugging into their power sockets would be stealing electricity !.Also I had to get permission from each band to video them. I knew I was OK with The Rapiers as I know them so kept my video batteries for their set and found a spot downstairs.Sorry I haven't got footage from the rest of the show.
Cheers Phil

Hi Kevin - Looks a lush guitar ! I've only ever owned one Ibanez guitar years ago and it was very good. Both Steve Vai and Joe Satriani use them so that cant be bad. Cheers Phil

Thanks guys for your replies. Kevin - I'll look out for pics of new guitar as the t-shirt says "you can never have too many guitars" With the customs I agree you have to be careful -I was so chuffed on two occasions I bought 2 nice guitars from the USA while on holiday and brought them back on the plane and walked straight through the "nothing to declare" at the airport. I think they have tightened up their security since - They wouldn't let me take spare guitar strings on one occasion as they told me they could be used for garotting. Ian - Yes it's the same model as I used for the solo on "Sealed with a kiss" which I borrowed from my friend. In the YouTube description I mentioned I loved the guitar but my friend wont sell it to me. I got an email from a fellow YT player Dan in the USA who I know well saying he had one and was willing to sell it. I couldn't believe my luck as only 17 were ever made. Yesterday my friend visited with his J200 12 and I took some photos of the 2 guitars together. Cheers Phil

Thanks Jim & Chris - I've been playing it through my acoustic amp today and it really sounds great. I'm sure if we can find the right song it will be handy for Andrews BT's. The truss rod cover is a special plate that is meant to be engraved with your name as the owner. Andrew my son has already asked me just to put my surname on there... No what's he planning. Lol

Thanks guys glad you like the 21 year old - It's in great condition for it's age and sounds terrific. Steve yes Iv'e run out of wall space in my living room unless I creep into the wife's side. Phil - sorry to hear about the hassle you had - The import Tax is a real nuisance - I thought if the sender declared it as a gift and it wasn't new or from a dealer, then you would be exempt. But not so The customs charge on everything over £30 value, new or old and the amount you pay depends on the value of the article. Thing is all guitars are cheaper in the USA so usually you still get a better deal than buying one from the UK - If you can find one that is. Cheers Phil

I agree with Charlie telephone payment is very common - I often pay Car Insurance and some utility bills this way. So what makes this different? - My email came today and I was allocated a serial number - when I get the phonecall providing they can quote the same serial number then you know it came from them. Then pay with a credit card (rather than debit card) then if anything goes wrong you can claim from the credit card company. Paypal is expensive for the seller and I can see why they have to pass on their charges to the customer.
Cheers Phil

Hi Charlie - very well done to all involved with the design - I was a bit worried when I heard it was just a foot operated pedal, but seeing it now with the potentiometer controls being recessed and therefore not "moveable or crushable " with your foot seems a really good design which will suit those who use it for live gigs as well as people like me who use it in studio environment. Looking forward to getting my hands (and foot) on it. Cheers Phil

Is it strange that with close too, and soon to be 4000 members, that the views on soundfiles can be a 100+ or even 300 in some cases and as low as 10 for others. Is it that the majority are known as forum "lurkers" with no intention of posting anything. The soundfile postings seem to be from a fairly exclusive group, and certainly don't reflect the number of members. Just an observation Mike. Hi Mike - I feel guilty sometimes that I don't reply to EVERY soundfile in the members only section especial if some have replied to my posts.(I don't look at the "Access to all" section at all) It's all down to a time issue . I spend roughly 50% of my free time looking at other peoples soundfiles mostly on YouTube but also here, the other 50% is used in learning new songs. Yes I have favourites which interest me in the songs I like the most, and will look at them first if I have time. I feel the odd few who post soundfiles and NEVER reply to others are selfish and lazy. Cheers Phil

Hi Mike - Some 15 years ago I was diagnosed with arthritis in my middle finger right hand. I had a lot of pain for over a year. Someone suggested one of these www.ecomagnets.com/bioflow-elite.htmI bought one and wear it continually day and night. Within a week of wearing it the pain had subsided and I wouldn't be without it now. May not work for everyone but It certainly does for me. Cheers Phil
