Hi Sandra - That was good idea leaving the cam corder running now you have the proof ! Sorry about your AG1 aerial - so Benji isn't a Shadows fan. I hope Wilson likes Hank as he'll get a lot of that. Lol
Hi Phil - Yes early Christmas pressie for Andrew - I wonder what he'll get me ??
Hi Noel - I agree seeing the delivery man carrying it down the drive and opening the case for the first time are the most thrilling bits. I know how The Shads felt when they opened the case of the first imported Fender to the UK.
Hi Jase - Glad you like it - Just finished making a recording with it hope to post it in a day or so.
Hi Mel - I'm still wondering why 9 months ago I agreed to have one made for Andrew - I must have been on something. Lol Anyway he will make good use of it and stop him nicking my guitars..
All the best... Phil

Hi Keith - Glad you liked the puppy - he is certainly very lively ! Hi Istvan - Thanks for commenting - I think the puppy prefers the cardboard box to the guitar Lol Hi Steve - His name is "Wilson" but when I call his name he ignores me unless I've got a treat in my hand. Glad you like the guitar amazing what can be done with a plank of wood ! Hi Ian - We kept the tone pots as standard - I keep forgetting to try the other combinations on my original Brason.Lol Yes the neck is that bit darker and shows up the grain of the wood, went for a gloss finish this time instead of the satin. I've run out of wall space here so it will have to go to Andrew's house once I've done a recording. We've never owned a dog before and I've discovered you have to hide everything you don't want chewed - so far he's got my phone and chewed through loud speaker wires and he's forgotten where the toilet is. Cheers Phil

Had my second Stratocaster built by UK Luthier Alan Brason. This one is for my son Andrew. It's a bit different from the Hank Marvin Fiesta red ones. Instead of an Alder body it has a flamed maple top with a swamp ash back. Birds eye maple neck. Kinman FV-HMS pickups.
It's been on order for 9 months and this video shows the day it arrived. We also have another new arrival "Wilson" the 10 week old puppy Beagle who likes to chew the cardboard box and anything else he can reach. Hope you like the video - I will use the new guitar on my next video. Cheers Phil

My CD arrived this afternoon - such a surprise to get it 3 days early - Big Thanks to Pat, John & the team at Leo's Den Just had a chance to listen to all the tracks - Had a taste from the 90 second samples that Ian told me about via Itunes. In my opinion its the best CD Hank has made since Guitar Player - Guitar Man has some great tracks but all of these are exceptional ! (IMO) Hank has a really up to date sound for the 21's century - far less echo more up front sound and the tone on of the songs is superb, just a slight bit of edge - No more 0-36 on the Q2 for this album! Lol. A very big input from Ben who is a superb guitarist ! - In Hanks own words he's "Much better than me" makes this CD a really great one. BT of Waterloo Sunset on it's way in a couple of weeks (all being well ) Cheers Phil

Hi Alan - I have a PRS 22 fret custom with tremolo Birds inlay, 10 top (which is the maple top I believe) - wide neck - bought it in Nashville while on holiday in 1998.(Wish they would come up with a model that you could refer to !) Lol The nicest guitar to play !! - But doesn't in any way sound like a Strat - all depend in what sound you want. But payability just perfect.! Several video's of it on my website.
Cheers Phil

Hi Mel - In the early days it was very difficult to amplify acoustic guitars without getting feedback. As Didier said Microphones are impractical for moving around on stage. Nowadays there are many other ways of amplifying acoustic guitars without getting the dreaded feedback. I personally prefer the sound of acoustics for rhythm on most of the Shadows songs.

Hi Dave, Roger and Didier - Keith has ordered his gold LH one from Madison and Fifth - a 2-3 week wait as it's a special order. I think I prefer the look of the standard tremolo arm to the Vintage one.I'll make Keith aware that they are available. Roger - I don't like sloppy tremolo arms so hope when I get mine it's OK. Mind you this happens on some Strats as well. The YT demo doesn't show any sloppyness maybe they have updated their design ?? Here is the demo that impressed me.

Thanks very much Dave - I watched a YT demo on how to fit the Stetsbar and gave Allparts a call and have ordered a chrome RH one for my Gibson ES 335 .(£175) That should give me some more inspiration to play it. Allparts haven't got a gold LH one in stock (For Keith's Les Paul)but they gave me the name and phone number of their supplier "Madison & Fifth" so Keith is ordering one direct from them. Thanks everyone for your replies it certainly was a big help. Cheers Phil

Hi Julian, Thanks for the info I agree nothing will be as good as the Strat tremolo's. Keith is going to try one out before committing - Being a LP copy the Bigsby would be almost as expensive as the guitar.
Hi Didier - Thank you for the link to the Stetsbar web site I have relayed the info onto Keith - According to the description they sound very good and there is a UK stockist. It's a case of never playing the guitar because it hasn't got a tremolo - we get so used to them on the strats and find it strange playing a guitar without one.
Many thanks for your replies.. Cheers Phil

Thanks for the good advice Charlie that all makes good sense. I think I'll go for the one on the well known auction site tomorrow unless anyone knows of a UK supplier. Many thanks for your reply.

A friend of mine Keith Harris who doesn't use the internet wants to fit a Bigsby to his Left Handed Les Paul (copy) and has asked me if I can find a supplier. He wants a Gold one. There are a few adds on the well known auction site but they all come from the USA. Here is one of the adds.. www.the well known auction site.co.uk/itm/NEW-REAL-BIGSBY-B7-G-VIBRATO-TREMOLO-WAMMY-LEFTY-TAILPIECE-GOLD-4-LES-PAUL-BODY-/281147283184?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item4175af16f0 I found a YT demo on how to fit them using a Bigsby B7 and a Vibramate V7 www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWyGMfb243QThe the well known auction site add doesn't mention the Vibramate V7 - can the bigsby be fitted using the original bridge ? or is the Vibramate V7 essential? Would I have to source that separately ? Does anyone know if there is a UK supplier to avoid all the import taxes etc? Many thanks... Phil

Hi Kevin, Like you I'm on the waiting list probably just a bit later than you. I haven't decided on a spec yet or whether the guitar will be for me or my son as I now have 2 strats. The good thing is Alan's guitars are every bit as good as the Fender Custom shop ones as those members who have both will verify. And you can specify exactly what you want. One thing I would suggest is go for a push fit tremolo arm rather than the screw thread ones. So much easier to remove when you put the guitar in the case and no excess play before the tremolo operates. The 8 months will fly by ! Cheers Phil

Hi Mel - I'm sure you will be fine, do you propose to stand up or sit on a stool to play ? The reason I mention this is at home I always sit down no real reason for standing up using a guitar strap. Playing lead stood up in my case is quite different unless you practice that way. The backing track my son is making for you is virtually done just a few additions and final mixings to be done so you'll get it in good time. Hope it goes really well and that you enjoy it.
All the best... Phil

Hi Kay - Sorry I missed this one when you first posted it. You've created a great Jazzy atmosphere the Double Bass, Piano, Drums played with brushes and your great sounding guitar. I haven't used flat wound strings since the '60's but they certainly give the right sound on this song. Congratulations on your great playing it was lovely to listen to. Cheers Phil

That sounded very good Kay, very dreamy. Only yesterday I visited a friend who plays the steel guitar. I didn't realise they had 10 strings and all those foot operated levers. And then finger pics on each finger and thumb. Must take one hell of a lot of practice to become proficient as obviously you are. Enjoyed Stardust very much. Cheers Phil
