Hi Rosemary, I find I do the gallop it different every time, Hank certainly does it different to the original recording but i guess if we get near to it usually sounds convincing. Over the years I have done a lot of session work with Artists and certain solos for songs I never do the same, to some its a bit of a leg puller on my behalf :-) I will in due course post my version of Apache will is as near as I can get it but then again to control that particular echo effect is not easy, making use of the Magicstomp. keep up the goosd work Peter

Hi lou, thanks for the apreciative comments. Its a bit fustrating really with regard to the recorded sound compared with the sound I have when recording the tune but for a mobile phone its incredible what it can do. I am at present trying to compile a music video portfolio so more will appear on You tube soon. cheers Peter

Hi there, whilst the going is good, here a rendition of this early classic track, the recorded sound is thiner more trebly than the actual in house sound, I was obviously distrated at the time too. now my excuses out the way here we go :-) cheers Peter youtu.be/OG7jOkS0ZRQ

Hi Guys, sweet dreams done the same way as the othe posts, in my opinion the twang on the string has come over tinny as the plektrum hits the string but was not evident during the recording. cheers peter youtu.be/poGZymoUSGY

hi, I agree with charlie on this recording and the stereo version more convincing, the distortion is a bit too much and the backing track too loud but very good rendition.

Hi Ian, Its interesting how you mention the link between avatar and hobby, my avatar shawbridge is the name of my first Model railway exhibition layout, which was published in British Railway Modelling in 19 99, a long time ago now but it won me many awards on the circuit

Hi people, I have so many hobbies :-) I am a very keen steam enthusiast and model railway anorak but I also work full time as an Architectural Modelmaker in the hobby and do the model railway exhibition circuit as a demonstrator on a regular basis. I am also currently writing a book on the subject.
I am also a keen cyclist having returned to it after a 15 year break, my claim to fame being on the same start sheet as chris Boardman in the same race. Oh! online chess to :-)

Very vey sad news indeed, not really a big fan of Amy nevertheless a life taken tragically. I have asked myself the question, who introduced her to drugs etc? i know we have the choice to say yes or no but when your so young what do you know your still growing up. A life given over to eternity in a moment, so very sad :-(

Hi charlie, "Just Brilliant", just like the original, I think when one is listening , a lot of it is Psycological, what i mean is we all know it is the new echo unit so we are listening for differences-comparing.
If that recording was on the radio and the guy said here is wonderful land by the shadows, we wouldn't even blink an eye, we would just accept it and fully enjoy.
It surly is winning everyones praise and rightly so.
top notch charlie!

Hi Charlie, Fantastic sound, whils't listening to it i thought at times I was listening to the original, so uncannily close to the original is that. I think to be fair, the shadows would record it then it would be fettled in the studio, mixed and wot-not to get to get to a point were they were happy with the overall sound presentation for the record.
If i may say that given the fact that you have just played to the backing track at home with guitar through the echo box and still get so close as to find it difficult to tell the difference, that is some achievment.

Hi Charlie, Thankyou for taking the time to record that. Superb rendition of the tune and the tone to die for, I had to keep listening to the recording you did as I couldn't beleive what I was hearing the distorted echo is amazingly like the original, I just can't understand how it can be done without a valve in sight, truly truly fantastic quality and the last notes tailing off into the distance, i have never hered anything other than a Meazzi that can deliver that kind of echo/distortion.

Hi Charlie, To me it sounds more like a wound G as opposed to a plain, I remember at the Get together I was itching to try out Sweet dreams on the pedal but no backing track was available, it is one of those tunes that doesn't make much sense when played without the backing if you see what I mean as there is quite a lot of chord changing around sustained notes, some are lonely is similar.

Hi Charlie, very nice indeed and so like the original. As an early shads tune with lots of echo distortion is one of my favourits Sweet Dreams bags of distorted echo sounds especially on the lower notes.
hi Alan,From what I hear Shane was just reverb sound but cou;d be proven wrong but never met anyone yet tht though there was echo involved with the Shane tune.
Cheers Charlie for the post.

Graham, allways good to watch, Hillbilly style without Banjo, I'm told that guitarists like that are 10 a penny in Texas on every street corner, I think its in there genes. i don't mean Levis :-)
cheers for that Peter

Hi, assuming you may use a combo amplifier eg AC30 or similar, have you tried going direct through the amplifier, experimenting with the master and imput volume.
Generally for shads type music its master up full then introduce the imput volume but if you back off the master and turn up the input volume you will get a dirty sound and probably at 50 50 you will get a crunch sound and if more imput volume added you will get more distortion, worth a try.
There is a site worth seeking out on you tube showing a demonstration of the VOX AC30cc2x that demonstrates this very well.

Hi Charlie, I presume you mean the Quadd 22 momo power amplifiers, ( I iwish ), I used to have a 33preamp and 303 power amplifier. Now I have the 33 control unit and a 405mk2 current dumping amplifier which i like but prefared the aweet sounding 303, I don't own Electrostatics but a friend has them, the glack 57s powered by 405mk2s 45 control unit and source Linn sondek Dynavector cartridge not shure about the arm and a very under used Ferrograph logic 7 reel to reel. Iv'e allways fancied the 22 power amps but nnot into hi-fi enough these days to justify the cost of such luxuries, in fact i now no longer own a turntable but did use a Rega planar 3 RB300 arm and rega elise cartridge going through Royd A7mk2s on Linn Kan stands great sound though. do you use the Quad system? I found that Quad gave a natural sound ( nothing added nothing taken away) which gave you a good representation of the actual recording you are hearing.would be listening to. cheers Peter

Hi Charlie, yes, its a strange phenomina, i can remember many years ago ( couldn't say when or who ) someone else made mention of the fact that they had renoved the paintwork from the guitar and it sounded much better, more 'resonance' i think was the word. I couldn't tell you what guitar it was tho at the time i put it down to his imagination but there must be something in it. peter
