I was walking through the churchyard when I heard a man sobbing over a grave. He was saying, Why did you go? Why?....Why?...Why?
I offered him some words of comfort....I said, "I'm sorry for your loss, is this your Wife's grave"? He said, "No, it's her first Husbands".

A long way for me, but I'll still come along for my annual visit when you're up and running again. After all, my return to playing the music of The Shadows is all your fault! Nice one Roger.

Try spraying some de oxit cleaner in the sockets and then push the plugs in and out several times. Sometimes the contacts don't connect if they haven't been used for a long time.

I know a quite a few consider themselves “Old School” and don’t really get the whole computer/software scene, which I accept is a valid and more comfortable approach for some. However, so many things have advanced within the industry and become accepted for studio use that I think many of the arguments in a recording situation (it’s also being used live as well) are becoming more notional. A case in point is getting the true character of a mic’d amp, “Impulse Response” technology has recently gone through a further stage of advancement with Celestion taking it seriously and releasing their own ranges, Redwirez has also recently released their upgraded “convolver” and improved IR files (a convolver is a plugin that allows loading and configuring of IR files). Pete Thorne demonstrates the Celestion IR’s in the video below: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zZ8SR8RMhwIn the video Pete has quite an advanced way of applying this that is not a cheap option, but used as simple plugins they still do the business in my opinion. For those interested in software amp sims, the latest version of Scuffham Amps S-Gear includes a pro convolver and has some Redwirez IR files included: www.scuffhamamps.comThey don’t have a specific VOX AC39 model, but I have found their Custom 57 with the Celestion Blues, Vox type cut control and speaker Bias settings to pretty authentic. I would be vey interest in other views either for or against, but for me the main reason for going this route is being able to experiment with tone and learning equipment behaviour of amps and some other pretty exclusive (and expensive) gear. Regards Gary What is a VOX AC39? Is it a 9th. edition of the VOX AC30 as we know it?!!

So the Audiom's were also in the Selectortones as well as the early Vox AC 15's. I don't remember what speakers were in the Selmer Twin Selectortone, but it's a Audiom 60 in the Selmer AC15 Stadium.

I had a Selmer Twin Selectortone about 1964, I still have a 15W 1962 Selmer Stadium with 12" Audiom speaker.

Darrell, As Len says because of different Amps, guitars, PUPS etc. that people use there isn't a 'one fix fits all'. If it helps this is what I use as a general setting.
For the early sound, (Apache, FBI, kon Tiki, etc.) turn the Bass and Treble fully off and the middle full on. (you might have to increase the treble to suit).
for the middle era sound, (Wonderful Land, Shadoogie, Peacepipe, etc.) As Tony says turn Bass, Middle, Treble to 12 o/clock.
For the later era sound, (Dance on, Foot tapper, Atlantis, etc.) turn the Bass full on, Middle at 9 o/clock and Treble about 1 or 2 o/clock.
Drive about 9 o/clock, Level about 1 o/clock and the Voice between 9 o/clock and 12 o/clock to suit.
This should get you near to where you want, the rest is down to your ears and fine tuning.
Regards, Baz.

Hi Tony,
I suggested try both ways in case there was any problems with whatever setup He was using. Yes I also use it with an Amp set on flat.

As the AC Tone is an Amp sim shouldn't it come after the echo? I know it can be used either way round, so it might be worth trying it both ways.

It sounds like you have a ground loop problem.
Charlie used to supply an additional short cable which was wired to overcome this problem. Maybe if he sees this post he may chip in.

Baz Can you upload the pic to "Box" then share the file and then click where it says "Copy"? Then all you need to do is "paste" it into your reply. That's all I did.. Its the same process for posting a sound file. Good luck George Thanks George, I've had a look but what is 'Box'?

A noise gate will stop the noise when nothing is being played, but the noise will still be there when you play something and open the gate. As long as the noise isn't louder than the note(s) being played you shouldn't notice it. That is the idea of a noise gate.
This is assuming the noise is coming from the Q2 and not being generated from some outside source.
