Good wishes and of course, good health to you Abel, your probably going to need it. So, you think it’s time to have a rest? So you think you can do just what you like when you like how you like? Yes? I’m sure some of us thought that too!!! What with the grandchildren, school runs, odd jobs here and odd jobs there - all free of course - time gets a bit thin on the ground so to speak. Grab what you can for yourself and have fun. Cheers Mick Plus one on that Mick! I don't know how I had the time to go to work!

Hi Tim I just realised I made a mistake in my reply. DRIVE should be at 9 o'clock or a bit less, not 3 o'clock as I said. 3 o'clock would shred your ears and everything else in the room! Tony Hi Tony, I also have a Joyo AC Tone and I thought setting Drive at 3 o'clock was a bit ambitious!

You have to turn the Bass and Treble fully up to get that 'nasal type' sound. And back the echo off a bit in the wet and dry mix.

I always use Stringsdirect, top firm. I had a 'dead' sounding low E in one set, I phoned them and they put one in the post which I received next day.

Hi Pete,
Are you telling me it was only a fuse that caused me all those wrong notes?!! Blimey ...and there's me thinking it was my playing!
I have the Kinmans in my guitar, everyone said 'oh yeh..they are alright for the later Shads stuff, but no good for the early stuff. Maybe not if you are a 'full blown' tribute band but I think 90% of people wouldn't notice at a normal gig as long as you played the tunes a bit 'half decent'. If the Kinmans were good enough for Hank then they are good enough for me!
Your right about playing Shads tunes....one wrong note and everyone notices....play a bit rock all over the place, and no one notices! But this is the price we pay for playing our favorite music.

I don't know about 'spot the duff note' Pete, when I had that Amp most of the notes used to come out duff!! I should have'd watched you a lot closer when you came down to me to buy it. I only sold it to you because all the notes came out wrong!! Thinking about it now, it was probably me playing it wrong?!!

Hi Pete, You don't have to remove springs to lower the Trem arm if the tension is how you like it. What you have to do is bend the Trem arm.
I look forward to seeing some vids, but I think you are right about the 3rd party hosting. Regards, Baz.

Hi Pete, Nice to know everything sounded good. If you had mentioned about your Trem being too high when you were at my place I could have fixed that for you.
Regards, Baz.

Hi Pete, Glad to hear you had a good night and the Amp performed well (which I knew it would). Did you use the EF86 Channel?
Regards, Baz.

Does your Father want something to gig with or just something to play at home?
If its something to gig with the above suggestion's are fine.
If its something to play at home you cant go far wrong with the VOX MINI 5 Rhythm. I have several valve amps, Vox AC15 / AC30 etc. but its the Vox Mini 5 Rhythm that I use at home and in my holiday caravan.
It is small, light, and very loud for a 5 watt amp. ( it fits into a normal size shopping bag, you could take it on the 'plane with you! ) It has a load of features, AC15 for early Shadows tunes, AC30 for later Shadows tunes, Fender Amps, Marshall amps etc. even a drumbeat machine with 99 different beats! All this for about £135.00.
PS I have no vested connection with Vox in any way!

Nice one Mike, you have hit the 'nail on the head'. Yes we all love The Shadows, but as you said we all like to go 'off piste' a little bit with different styles etc. But I/we all come back to our roots.

Hi Phil, I'm with you on this one, but I don't have an answer. I've played in bands for 53 years and I also wear hearing aids. These are private expensive digital one's which are better than the NHS one's.
I have 3 separate programs that I can switch between with a remote control. One is for normal speech which cuts out background noise, one is for instant half volume for a noisy enviroment (although I have a remote volume control) and another channel with full range frequency for music.
When I am out front at our Shadows Club I can hear the music fine, but when I get up to play I find it difficult to hear myself. People out front say they can hear me fine so its not a volume issue, but like you I find it very frustrating.

Well deserved praise indeed Charlie.
From someone who has used EFTP in both the Q2 and Q20 I would like to say a big "thank you" for giving me and countless others like me, those lovely echo sounds that we had all been dreaming of since hearing "APACHE" in 1960.
I was sixteen and just starting to learn the Guitar with the help of Bert Weedons 'Play In A Day' book, as did countless others at the time because that was all there was to learn with!

Hello Mike. I'm not sure if you were telling me off or putting me straight when you posted your "point of information" in detailing the strings you use today following my tongue in cheek comment after Bobo mentioned his experience with wound 3rd strings (or 4th counting the other way) that wear our quickly if they are used for a playing style that uses a lot of bends. just thought I would mention that in no way was I suggesting there was a problem with wound 3rds available today or your brand in particular. I just thought other poor players in the '60's would also recollect using strings to the bitter end in those days by which time the wound third (which was all that could be bought at the time)was truly in a sorry state. Cheers Mick I well remember the third wound string 'shredding' in the sixties and bits of the wrap sliding up and down the string! Regards, Baz.

The ACTone should be at the end of your chain.... it simulates an Amplifier controls, so it should go where an Amplifier would be.

That is disgusting............. I remember when I wanted to learn to play guitar and didn't have a Dad to buy one for me (he died when I was 10 years old) I had to save and save to even get something that was hardly playable.
All the kids out there that would give anything for one of those guitars.......... they must be crying to watch something like that.

I remember seeing a thing recently about a man that had something to do with organizing dances at the Surf Ballroom in Salt Lake City. He was talking about Buddy Holly etc. and said that he owned the land where the plane crashed and was only too willing to let people have access to the site.
